Wrapup: Richmond Int'l Raceway

Richmond International Raceway (RIR) held two NASCAR top series events this past weekend. On Saturday, the XFINITY Series ran its 149-lap ToyotaCare 250 at the 0.75-mile oval in Virginia. The Sprint Cup featured the Toyota Owners 400 on Sunday afternoon. The Camping World Truck Series returns to action on May 6 with the Toyota Tundra 250 at Kansas Speedway. The results and upcoming scheduled events for the ARCA Racing Series and the NASCAR Home Tracks are also shown below.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS)
Time Trials:
Qualifying was cancelled due to weather conditions. The 40 drivers who made the race were set by the order of practice speeds in the first practice. Kevin Harvick, Joey Logano, Jimmy Johnson, Carl Edwards and Denny Hamlin made up the top-five in the line-up. Harvick led 63 laps and finished the 400-lap race in fifth place.
Did Not Qualify: #98 Cole Whitt.
Winner: Carl Edwards (#19 XFINITY Toyota Camry) won the Toyota Owners 400, his 27th victory in 418 NSCS races. This is his second victory and eighth top-10 finish in 2016 and his second victory and 12th top-10 finish in 24 races at Richmond. Kyle Busch (second) posted his 16th top-10 finish in 22 races at RIR. Jimmie Johnson (third) posted his 12th top-10 finish in 29 races at RIR.

Time Trials:
This week’s lineup for the ToyotaCare 250 at Richmond was set based on two Heat Races. Heat Race 1 was won by Erik Jones (#20 Hisense USA Toyota); Heat Race 2 by Ty Dillon (#3 WESCO Chevrolet Camaro). Jones started the main event in position 1 (pole), led 17 laps but was caught up in a multi-car wreck with 15 laps to go while running in the top five; finished 34th. Dillon started second, missed the wreck and finished second.
Did Not Qualify: None. Only 40 cars entered for the 40-car field.
Winner: Sprint Cup driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the ToyotaCare 250, his 24th victory in 137 NXS races. This is the #88 Hellmann's Chevrolet Camaro driver's first victory and second top-10 NXS finish in 2016. This is his fourth victory and fifth top-10 finish in six NXS races at Richmond. Ty Dillon (second) posted his fifth top-10 finish in seven races at RIR. It is his fifth top-10 finish in 2016. Elliott Sadler (third) posted his 11th top-10 finish in 26 races at RIR.
