Wrapup: Talladega

Talladega Superspeedway hosted the two lone races this past week. On Saturday, Timothy Peters won his second consecutive Camping World Truck Series race at the Alabama 2.66-mile tri-oval. The Sprint Cup Series’ final race of the Contender Round closed out the ‘Dega weekend with Joey Logano taking the trophy on Sunday afternoon for the third consecutive week. The XFINITY Series will return to action on Saturday, November 7 at Fort Worth’s Texas Motor Speedway.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS)
Time Trials:
Jeff Gordon (#24 3M Chevrolet SS) won the Coors Light Pole Award for the CampingWorld.com 500 with a lap of 49.234 seconds, 194.500 mph. This is his 81st pole in 793 NSCS races. It is his fourth pole and 18th top-10 start in 2015 and his fifth pole in 46 races at Talladega Superspeedway. Gordon led eight laps and finished the 196-lap race in third place.
Did Not Qualify: # 23 Jeb Burton; # 46 Michael Annett.
Winner: Joey Logano won the CampingWorld.com 500, his 14th victory in 251 NSCS races. This is his sixth victory and 26th top-10 finish in 2015 and his first victory and fifth top-10 finish in 14 races at Talladega Superspeedway. He started 10th in the lineup and led 20 laps of the 196-lap race. With this victory, Logano has swept the three-race Contender Round.

Time Trials:
Timothy Peters (#17 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra) won the Keystone Light Pole Award for the fred's 250 with a lap of 53.706 seconds, 178.304 mph. This is his seventh pole in 203 NCWTS races. It is his first pole and ninth top-10 start in 2015 and first pole in seven races at Talladega Superspeedway.
Did Not Qualify: #28 Andy Seuss; #50 Ryan Ellis.
Winner: Timothy Peters won the fred's 250, his ninth victory in 203 NCWTS races. This is his first victory and 12th top-10 finish in 2015. It is his second victory and fourth top-10 finish in seven races at Talladega. Peters led 23 laps in the 98-lap race. He is the third driver in series history to win consecutive races at Talladega joining Todd Bodine (2007, 2008) and Kyle Busch (2009, 2010).
