FanDuel NBA Bargains Wednesday

Updated On: October 4, 2018, 4:04 pm ET

When looking at bargains on FanDuel, typically we’ll focus on players who are priced at $6,000 or lower. I’ll be ranking these picks by priority to your lineups for tonight’s six-game slate starting at 7:00 ET.

Just a quick note that these player picks were organized early in the day. For the NBA, there is usually a plethora of news trickling out through the afternoon, which could open up some more value plays. Be sure to keep posted with the NBA Headlines & Injuries section, as the wonderful contributors over there will break down the DFS consequences of every piece of news.

Now onto the bargain plays.

1 – James Johnson – PF – Miami (FanDuel Price: $5,300)

Despite the top ranking, Johnson isn’t necessarily a slam dunk value option. However, he rates marginally better than other players below the $6000 salary threshold. On top of that, Johnson fills a void at the power forward position, a spot that isn’t very competitive from a value perspective tonight. Kelly Olynyk is doubtful for Miami, helping solidify minutes for James Johnson. The Miami forward has been known as a solid FP/minute contributor throughout his career, so he’ll likely make good use of the boosted playing time.

2 – Josh Jackson – SF – Phoenix (FanDuel Price: $5,900)

Jackson has found his role while playing pretty good basketball as of late. That has translated to 30 or more fantasy points in five straight games. Tonight’s matchup vs San Antonio doesn’t inspire a ton of confidence; however, Jackson should see more usage (and minutes) with Devin Booker doubtful. His upside may be capped in this subpar draw, but Jackson still has a good chance to near his value threshold of 30 FP with more work on his plate.

3 – Rajon Rondo – PG – New Orleans (FanDuel Price: $4,800)

Rondo has been up-and-down lately, but hitting 34+ fantasy points in two of his past three games inspires confidence moving forward. On top of that, the point guard position is full of “just okay” value options. From that perspective, we might as well take chance on Rondo’s 40+ FP upside for this non-prohibitive salary. The game environment vs Indiana looks good also, checking in as the second-highest over/under of the night. The Pacers rank in the bottom ten in assists allowed, a category that represents Rondo’s upside.

4 – Danny Green – SG – San Antonio (FanDuel Price: $4,800)

Mr. Danny Green is back on the fantasy radar after seeing 25+ minutes and 24+ fantasy points in three straight games. That coincidentally represents his value threshold (5x the salary) at the current price point. There’s a good chance he’ll achieve that against a fast-paced Phoenix team that ranks 29th in defensive efficiency vs opposing shooting guards. Green makes for a decent value filler at a tough shooting guard position.

5 – DeMarre Carroll – SF – Brooklyn (FanDuel Price: $5,100)

I don’t mind rolling with teammates TJ Warren and Josh Jackson at small forward tonight. However, if you need more savings, DeMarre Carroll checks in as a solid fallback option. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Caris LeVert are out tonight, which helps solidify Carroll’s minutes despite the usual fluidity of Brooklyn’s rotations. Making matters even better, Carroll’s opponent (Detroit) ranks 25th in defensive efficiency vs small forwards.

Dejounte Murray ($5500) represents another bargain at the point guard position. You can realistically utilize him alongside or in place of Rajon Rondo tonight. In an ideal world, we’d see more than 25-27 minutes out of Murray, but that seems unrealistic based on recent trends. Despite that, Dejounte carries adequate fantasy potential while facing a Phoenix team that ranks 29th in defensive efficiency vs point guards.

Derrick Favors ($5500) isn’t an exciting play, but he’s a fine value filler if you’re looking for more savings. His opponent (Memphis) ranks 22nd in defensive efficiency vs power forwards. On top of that, Favors has notched some nice fantasy performances despite Rudy Gobert’s return several weeks ago.
