NHL Plays: Tuesday

Updated On: October 4, 2018, 4:04 pm ET

The new game in town is called DRAFT (Draft.com) and the DFS game is something most poolies have grown up on, drafting a team, allowing each participant to take a player with each pick. Unlike the other DFS games, if for instance you draft Connor McDavid in your pool, no one else can take him.

The draft is quick as you are allowed only 30 seconds per pick and you take five players, three forwards, a defenseman and a goalie.

You can use some strategy. Let’s say there are five participants in your pool and you are picking last. If the first four take goaltenders, then pick your goalie in the final round as you are going to get him anyway.

Remember, there are new pools available to play in but the players in my rankings will fall off the table as soon as the puck drops in their respective game.

Familiarize yourself with the rules and enjoy! It’s a great game! On Tuesday there are head-to-head drafts with a lot of three player drafts as.

Editor’s Note: Compete in a live snake draft right now! Drafts take as little as 2 minutes to complete and last just one night. For a limited time, DRAFT is giving Rotoworld readers a FREE entry into a real money draft and a Money-Back Guarantee up to $100! Here's the link.

Forward rankings

1. Nathan MacKinnon

2. Connor McDavid

4. Nikita Kucherov

5. Sidney Crosby

6. Alex Ovechkin

7. Claude Giroux

8. William Karlsson

9. Taylor Hall<>

10. Patrik Laine

11. Mikko Rantanen

12. Steven Stamkos

13. Blake Wheeler

14. Phil Kessel

15. Tyler Seguin

16. John Tavares

17. Jamie Benn

18. Aleksander Barkov

20. Jakub Voracek

21. Patrick Kane

22. J.T. Miller

23. Jonathan Huberdeau

24. Mitch Marner

25. Mark Scheifele

26. Vincent Trocheck

27. Artemi Panarin

28. Jonathan Marchessault

29. Anders Lee

30. Evander Kane

Unlike Monday, there are a plethora of great forwards and in the 10-team pools, I think it is wise to grab a whole line early and wait on the other two positions. J.T Miller has been a stud since the trade from the Rangers to Tampa Bay and playing with Kucherov and Stamkos does not hurt. MacKinnon has shot to the top of the forward standings as he has been outstanding not only of late but all season as well. McDavid was held pointless last game so he is due. Malkin, Kucherov and Crosby are next in line and Ovechkin follows them. You can see there are plenty of good ones to select on Tuesday. Evander Kane is ranked 30th even after a four-goal night Sunday. A couple of Finns, Patrik Laine and Mikko Rantanen are ranked low considering how good they have been of late but that is more telling of the depth at forward.

Defenseman rankings

1. Erik Karlsson

2. Drew Doughty

3. Tyson Barrie

4. Dustin Byfuglien

5. Shayne Gostisbehere

6. Victor Hedman

7. Brent Burns

8. John Klingberg

9. Kris Letang

10.John Carlson

There are plenty of good defensemen as there are plenty of games in the NHL on Tuesday, so I would actually wait until the final round, especially in the 10-team draft. Doughty has been hot with a couple of three assist nights in the last five evenings. Burns has been slumping of late but is capable of a big night. Karlsson, Barrie and Byfuglien deserve top ranking as well as Doughty.

UPDATE: Karlsson won't play Tuesday

Goalie Rankings

1. Andrei Vasilevskiy

2. Sergei Bobrovsky

3. Connor Hellebuyck

4. Matt Murray

5. Martin Jones

6. Semyon Varlamov

7. Marc-Andre Fleury

8. James Reimer

9. Petr Mrazek

10.Braden Holtby

11.Frederik Andersen

Check out the probable goalies on Rotoworld before starting your draft and especially the blurbs which should tell you the starting netminders. Goaltending is a tough pick on Tuesday as the top goalies are obviously near the top but I might like to wait in the larger drafts and take the matchups. Petr Mrazek goes back to Detroit for the first time since his trade and he wants to prove to the Red Wings that they made a mistake dealing him. Reimer faces a less-than-stellar Ottawa team while Varlamov will play against a weaker Chicago squad.
