Wrap-up: Dover Int'l Speedway

The 1-mile concrete oval Dover International Speedway, known as the "Monster Mile", was the venue for the Cup and XFINITY Series events this past weekend. On Saturday, the XFINITY Series (NXS) 200-lap Bar Harbor 200 was featured at the Delaware track. After this event, the final race in the NXS Round of 12, only the top eight drivers advanced to the NXS Round of 8 Chase Field. The Cup series closed out the weekend with the 404-lap (four-lap overtime) Gander Outdoors 400. This was the first of the three-race MENCS Round of 12 Chase Field. The Camping World Truck Series returns to action on Saturday, October 13, with the Fr8Auctions 250 at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama. Results and upcoming scheduled events for the NASCAR Home Tracks are also shown below. The NASCAR Pinty Series and NASCAR K&N Pro Series East have completed their 2018 seasons.
Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS)
Time Trials: Steady rainfall forced NASCAR to cancel Friday’s MENCS qualifying for the Gander Outdoors 400 at Dover. The lineup was set per the NASCAR Rule Book (owner points), putting Kyle Busch (No. 18 Toyota) on the pole position, Kevin Harvick (No. 4 Ford) second and Martin Truex Jr. (No. 78 Toyota) starting third.
Did not qualify: No one. 39 cars entered for 40 spots in the lineup.
Results: Chase Elliott (No. 9 Chevrolet) won the Gander Outdoors 400, his second victory in 107 MENCS races. This is his second victory and 17th top-10 finish in 2018. It is his first victory and fifth top-10 finish in six races at Dover. Denny Hamlin (second) posted his 11th top-10 finish in 26 races at Dover. It is his 15th top-10 finish in 2018. Joey Logano (third) posted his 11th top-10 finish in 20 Dover starts. William Byron (19th) was the highest finishing Sunoco Rookie of the Year (ROTY) contender. Pole-sitter Kyle Busch, led 21 laps and finished the 404-lap race in eighth-place.

Time Trials: Daniel Hemric (No. 21 Chevrolet) won the Pole Award for the Bar Harbor 200 with a lap of 158.249 mph. This is his fourth pole in 62 NXS races. It is his third pole and 23rd top-10 start in 2018 and his first pole in four races at Dover. Christopher Bell (second), the fastest qualifying ROTY contender, posted his 20th top-10 start of 2018 and his first in two races at Dover. Justin Allgaier (third) scored his ninth top-10 Dover start and his 22nd in 29 races this season.

Cole Custer (second) posted his third top-10 finish in four races at Dover and his 23rd top-10 finish in 2018. Justin Allgaier (third) posted his ninth top-10 finish in 16 races at Dover. Pole-sitter Daniel Hemric led 23 laps and finished the 200-lap event in seventh place.
