We’re officially past the halfway point of the season, so we're starting to get a nice sample size on defenses and offenses. As we get further along in the season, it's important to pay extra attention to injuries, especially defensive injuries.
Cash Game Targets
Cam Newton vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
I'm writing Cam up as my top cash game option, but really, I think he's the top option for both cash and tournaments this weekend. Tampa’s allowing the most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks this season, and the Bucs are also ranked 32nd in DVOA against the pass. Cam’s scored at least 18 fantasy points in every game this season and has multiple passing touchdowns in six straight games. He continues to have an extremely high floor, plus he has a lot of upside in this matchup. As much as I like Mahomes each week, I just like Newton more this week.

<p>This is going to be the highest scoring game on the weekend, and if for some reason you're not playing Gurley in cash, I think you have to consider playing Goff. The Saints have allowed multiple passing touchdowns in four of seven games this season, and they've allowed at least 275 passing yards in five of seven games. They're allowing the third-most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks, and they're ranked 29th in DVOA against the pass. Honestly, I don't see this defense stopping the Rams Offense this weekend.</p>
<p><strong><span style=">Tournament Targets
Nick Chubb vs. Kansas City Chiefs
It's tough to guess what we're going to see out of the Browns Offense this weekend. Chubb looked really good last weekend, and even though the box score doesn't completely show it, he had a solid game. Meanwhile, the Chiefs have struggled against the run this season, as they're allowing the most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs. They're also ranked 32nd in DVOA against the run this season. Just know coming in that this could turn into a Duke Johnson game, so if you're playing Chubb, have a little exposure to Johnson as well.
Isiah Crowell @ Miami Dolphins
Miami has been dealing with some injuries to this defense front, and as a result they're starting to struggle against the run. They've allowed at least 100 yards rushing and one touchdown in six of eight games this season, and in five of the last six games. After having a monster game in Week 5 against Denver, Crowell hasn't done much, and I hope that lowers his ownership in this matchup. I'd expect this game to stay close, and with Powell out for the season, Crowell should lead the team in carries this weekend. As a cheaper running back, I like the upside for him in Week 9.
