The Week Ahead

Golden Knights hot since Deadline

Updated On: March 9, 2019, 12:58 pm ET

There are four weeks left in the regular season and many pools have started its playoffs this past week. If so, best of luck the rest of the way. Pay close attention to the schedules as even this week, there are 15 teams that are playing four games while lowly Los Angeles and the hot Golden Knights play only twice. The good thing about these two teams playing only twice is that only Mark Stone has more than 48 points on the season. Stone has 64 points in 64 games but only two in five games with Vegas. Thanks Anitra!

WEEK OF MARCH 11-17

4 Games - Anaheim, Arizona, Buffalo, Columbus, Dallas, Edmonton, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, San Jose, Toronto

3 Games – Boston, Calgary, Carolina, Chicago, Colorado, Detroit, Florida, Montreal, Nashville, Ottawa, Tampa Bay, Vancouver, Washington, Winnipeg

2 Games – Los Angeles, Vegas

Minnesota plays all four games at home.

New Jersey and the New York Rangers play all four games on the road.

Buffalo, Colorado, Pittsburgh, Toronto and Winnipeg play three games at home.

Florida, Nashville, St. Louis and Washington play three games on the road this week.

INJURIES

Jake McCabe is likely out for the remainder of the season with an upper-body injury. (Click here to see the rest of the injury list.)

Note: A tired team is one that has played the day or night before and is going against a team that did not play the previous day or night. The reverse is true for a rested team.

ANAHEIM

Games this week

vs. Nashville, @ Arizona, @ Colorado, vs. Florida

Rested Team: vs. Florida (Sunday)

Tired Team: @ Colorado (Friday)

Notes

The Ducks play four games this week with three games in four nights. John Gibson should see action in three games with Ryan Miller getting the other start. There is not a lot of good about the Anaheim Ducks season in 2018-19. At this time, in a year when scoring is way up, their leading scorer is Ryan Getzlaf who has only 39 points in 57 games and a minus-23 rating. And that is there best. To compare, the Chicago Blackhawks have two more points in the standings and have scored 69 more goals than Anaheim and have five players with at least 40 points including Patrick Kane with 94. Ryan Kesler played in his 1,000th NHL game on Tuesday. Devin Shore is day-to-day after suffering a charley horse and hyperextended knee Sunday when Ian Cole of Colorado went knee-on-knee on him.

ARIZONA

Games this week

@ Chicago, @ St. Louis, vs. Anaheim, vs. Edmonton

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: @ St. Louis (Tuesday)

Notes

The Coyotes play four games this week including three games in four nights. Expect to see Darcy Kuemper play three games with Calvin Pickard playing once. The Coyotes have been charging up the standings and got Jason Demers and Michael Grabner back this week. Demers had been out since November 15 with a knee injury while Grabner injured his eye on December 1. Demers returned on Tuesday while Grabner made his first start Thursday. Arizona is led in goals by Brad Richardson’s 16 but they are spreading out their scoring nicely as 10 players are in double digits, all being forwards. They are still weak in five-on-five situations as they are a collective minus-108.

BOSTON

Games this week

@ Columbus, @ Winnipeg, vs. Columbus

Rested Team: @ Columbus (Tuesday), vs. Columbus (Saturday)

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Bruins have recalled Karson Kuhlman after Marcus Johansson suffered a lung contusion Tuesday after a collision with Micheal Ferland. David Pastrnak skated on Tuesday with a stick and that is nice progress from a broken thumb suffered on February 10. Tuukka Rask has given the Bruins a point in each of his last 18 games (15-0-3) and has become only the second netminder to have points in each of 17 games this twice in a career, the first being Pete Peters. Boston continues to get outstanding goaltending from both Rask and Halak as the duo are a combined 41-17-9 with a .923 save percentage and a 2.31 GAA. The Bruins and Maple Leafs are likely headed towards a first round matchup and Brad Marchand could have got things started, stating that the Leafs’ Mitch Marner new deal could be worth $12 million per season.

BUFFALO

Games this week

vs. Dallas, vs. Pittsburgh, @ Carolina, vs. St. Louis

Rested Team: @ Carolina (Saturday)

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Sabres play three games in four nights during their four-game schedule this week. Linus Ullmark should get three starts with Carter Hutton picking up one start in net. Jeff Skinner was once neck-and-neck (well maybe not neck-and-neck but certainly a close second) with Alex Ovechkin for the NHL goal-scoring lead but he has fallen off and has not scored in his last 10 games. He has 36 goals which is still good enough for a tie for sixth in the league. Jack Eichel thinks he needs to start shooting more and that has to be good news for his fantasy owners. Rasmus Ristolainen has been struggling with a minus-33 this season, the worst in the NHL. Jake McCabe is out for the next five-six weeks (that is more than the rest of the regular season with an upper-body injury.

CALGARY

Games this week

vs. New Jersey, vs. New York Rangers, @ Winnipeg

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: @ Winnipeg (Saturday)

Notes

The Flames put Matthew Tkachuk on the top line with Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan and placed Elias Lindholm to the second unit alongside Mikael Backlund and Andrew Mangiapane. We shall see how long this move lasts. Michael Stone is getting close to a return from a blood clot that has sidelined him since November 11. He was sent to the minors on a conditioning stint. Gaudreau has scored only once in the last 18 games. Sean Monahan has only one goal in 12 games. Both have 30 goals and lead the Flames but you can see why Calgary has had trouble of late and why they made the line switch. The Flames are still struggling in net with David Rittich and Mike Smith unable to take the reins and become the undisputed starting goaltender. They will need someone to emerge before the start of the playoffs.

CAROLINA

Games this week

@ Colorado, @ Columbus, vs. Buffalo

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: vs. Buffalo (Saturday)

Notes

Micheal Ferland seems to be injured every week and this week was no exception as he suffered an upper-body injury on Tuesday and skated by himself Thursday. Justin Faulk used to be one of the top offensive defensemen in the NHL as he averaged 16 goals over three seasons. This season he has only eight goals and 26 points in 66 games. Brett Pesce has been a solid blueliner with six goals and 20 points in 57 games with a gaudy plus-28 rating. Look for Petr Mrazek to be the starting goaltender next season. While Curtis McElhinney has played well with a 17-7-2 mark and a 2.31 GAA with a .921 save percentage, he is 35 and nearing the end of his career. This is by far his best career as his 17 victories have smashed his previous high of 12 set in 2014-15. Mrazek has been strong as well with a 16-12-3 mark and a 2.60 GAA.

CHICAGO

Games this week

vs. Arizona, @ Toronto, @ Montreal

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

Jonathan Toews has always been an outstanding two-way performer and not an amazing point-getter. He has surpassed the 70-point mark only once before in his career, that being a 76-point performance in 2010-11, his fourth season in the NHL. But he has had a resurgence this season with 29 goals and 69 points in 67 games and looks to be well on track to eclipse his career high as there are 15 games left on the schedule. The Blackhawks switched their lines up Thursday with Patrick Kane playing alongside Artem Anisimov and Dominik Kahun while Toews centered Brandon Saad and John Hayden.  The Blackhawks recalled Collin Delia from the minors to back up Corey Crawford as Cam Ward is out seven-10 days with a knee injury.

COLORADO

Games this week

vs. Carolina, vs. Anaheim, vs. New Jersey

Rested Team: vs. Anaheim (Friday)

Tired Team: None

Notes

Mikko Rantanen has picked up the pace again as he has four goals in his last six games and with 85 points is one ahead of his center Nathan MacKinnon for the team lead. With only 14 games left in the season, the Avalanche are in trouble as they are four points out of a playoff spot in 10th place in the West and hold none of the tie-breakers at this time. The only good is they are the seventh best-team in the West in goal-differential with a plus-five. Ian Cole picked up 15 penalty minutes on Sunday and that gave him 39 minutes in his last three games although he has been quiet the last two with nary a penalty. He has 111 minutes this season, a career high. Tyson Jost has been a disappointment this season with only nine goals and 20 points in 56 games but has shown some glimpses of play that made him the 10th overall pick in 2016.

COLUMBUS

Games this week

@ New York Islanders, vs. Boston, vs. Carolina, @ Boston

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: vs. Boston (Tuesday), @ Boston

Notes

The Blue Jackets play the Bruins in a home-and-home series so there could be tempers flaring. If so, look for Josh Anderson to be involved. The Blue Jackets play a pair of back-to-back games this week and Sergei Bobrovsky and Keith Kinkaid could split the net although they are also carrying Joonas Korpisalo. The Blue Jackets went all-in at the trade deadline 11 days ago and it was thought that they would be the favorites to win the Metropolitan Division. The Blue Jackets are 2-4-0 since the deadline and both wins have come in extra time with an overtime win over the Flyers and a shootout win over New Jersey. Cam Atkinson potted his career-high 36th goal Tuesday against the Devils.

DALLAS

Games this week

@ Buffalo, @ Minnesota, vs. Vegas, vs. Vancouver

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: vs. Vegas (Friday)

Notes

The Stars play three games in four nights as part of a four-game week and Anton Khudobin should get one start with Ben Bishop playing three times. Bishop has been great of late with back-to-back shutouts. The netminder is 22-14-2 this season with a sparkling 2.13 GAA and a .930 save percentage. He has been the major reason the Stars are back in the playoff picture as they hold down the first wild-card in the West. Alexander Radulov had the hat trick Thursday to give him 20 goals in 55 games. Andrew Cogliano returned to action Thursday after missing three games with an upper-body injury. It was the first time in his 12-year career that he has missed due to injury. Mats Zuccarello has been recovering nicely from his broken arm surgery a week ago. He will be back in three weeks and is expected to start skating any day.

DETROIT

Games this week

@ Montreal, vs. Tampa Bay, vs. New York Islanders

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

Mike Green has a virus and has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Filip Hronek and Thomas Vanek are now on the point during the first power play. Filip Zadina picked up his first NHL goal against Colorado (it should be the first of many) and the sixth overall pick in 2018 really benefited from his time in the minors. Dylan Larkin sat out Thursday’s game with a back injury that he had been playing through. Larkin has 27 goals and 62 points in 65 games. Dennis Cholowski was sent to the minors on February 16 and he has five assists in seven games during his AHL stint with a plus-six rating after seven goals and 16 points in 52 games with a minus-20 rating in his Detroit rookie season. He is a good one who will be back next season and quarterback the power play.

EDMONTON

Games this week

vs. New York Rangers, vs. New Jersey, @ Arizona, @ Vegas

Rested Team: vs. New Jersey (Wednesday)

Tired Team: @ Vegas (Sunday)

Notes

The Oilers are making a run for the playoffs as they are 6-2-2 in their last 10 games and trail Minnesota by seven points with a game in hand. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl as usual, are leading the way with Draisaitl on a 12-game points streak and McDavid on a seven-game streak in which he has two goals and 12 points. Mikko Koskinen has four straight wins and is 20-15-4 with a 2.75 GAA and a .912 save percentage. He is starting to look like the goalie who the Oilers inked to a three-year extension earlier in the season and not the one who struggled in the middle of the season. Zack Kassian is playing alongside McDavid and Draisaitl and has goals in four straight games to give him 12 goals and 20 points in 64 games. He is worth a pickup at this time.

FLORIDA

Games this week

@ San Jose, @ Los Angeles, @ Anaheim

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: @ Anaheim (Sunday)

Notes

The Panthers are in California all week.  With 15 games to go, the Panthers are a longshot to make the playoffs as they are 12 points in arrears of the second wild-card and still have four teams to pass. Thursday was a good snapshot as to why they will not be in the post-season as they allowed a couple of goals in the final 37 seconds to drop a 4-3 decision to Boston. Mike Hoffman is having a great season with 30 goals and 59 points in 66 contests. Roberto Luongo is 0-2-3 in his last five games and is 14-15-4 this season. At the age of 39, (40 on April 4) Luongo could be on his way out of the NHL or more likely, a reduced role next season. Aleksander Barkov has 29 goals and 70 points in 67 games to lead the Panthers.

LOS ANGELES

Games this week

vs. Nashville, vs. Florida

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Kings only play twice this week with both games occurring at home. What is in the water in the Los Angeles area? The Ducks have no one at the 40-point mark this season and the Kings have only one player, that being Anze Kopitar, who has 48 points in 66 games, after a 92-point season last year. It has not been a good season for goaltender Jonathan Quick. He is 12-19-6 with a 3.32 GAA and a .891 save percentage. He has not had a GAA worse than 2.45 since the 2009-10 season and even then, it was 2.54. As far as a save percentage is concerned, he had a .902 save percentage in 2012-13, otherwise, he hasn’t had a season under .915 since. It has been a bad season for the veteran who may need a change of scenery as the Kings are not likely to be good for a couple of seasons at least.

MINNESOTA

Games this week

vs. San Jose, vs. Dallas, vs. New York Rangers, vs. New York Islanders

Rested Team: vs. New York Rangers (Saturday)

Tired Team:  None

Notes

The Wild are home for all four games including three games in four nights. Devan Dubnyk should get three starts with Alex Stalock getting the call once.  Jason Zucker had the hat trick Thursday in a 3-0 win over Dallas and has eight points in his last seven games including six goals.  He has played well with Ryan Donato since Donato’s trade from Boston. Donato has nine points in eight games since the deal. Pontus Aberg scored his first goal as a member of the Wild on Tuesday but with only one goal in 14 games, it was not what the Wild were looking for when they picked him up in a trade with Anaheim. Zach Parise leads Minnesota in goals and points with 24 and 55 respectively.

MONTREAL

Games this week

vs. Detroit, @ New York Islanders, vs. Chicago

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

Brendan Gallagher hit the 30-goal mark for the second time in his career on Tuesday, giving him a four-game goal scoring streak but that came to an end on Thursday in a loss to San Jose. Phillip Danault is having the best season of his NHL career as he has 34 assists and 45 points in 67 games. The forward’s previous best was 40 points set two seasons ago. Carey Price continues to shine as the netminder is 28-19-5 with a 2.51 GAA and a .917 save percentage. He has 314 career wins and is currently tied with Hall-of-Famer Jacques Plante for the most wins as a Montreal Canadiens goaltender. Jordan Weal scored in his first game as a Hab Tuesday as the Canadiens decided to rest rookie Jesperi Kotkaniemi for the first time this season.

NASHVILLE

@ Anaheim, @ Los Angeles, @ San Jose

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Predators are in California all week.  Nick Bonino has 15 goals and 29 points this season with a plus-28 rating. The Predators have 10 players who have scored in the double-digits for the team including the now-departed Ryan Hartman. Wayne Simmonds has only one assist in four games since his trade from Philadelphia but he is a plus-three. Mikael Granlund has one assist as well as a member of the Predators in three games. Nashville has regained the lead in the Central Division as they are one point up on Winnipeg but the Jets do have three games in hand. Ryan Johansen has 54 points, one better than defenseman Roman Josi.

NEW JERSEY

Games this week

@ Calgary, @ Edmonton, @ Vancouver, @ Colorado

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: @ Edmonton (Wednesday)

Notes

The Devils play all four games on the road as they finish their six-game road trip. They also play three games in four nights so look for Mackenzie Blackwood and Cory Schneider to share the net. Jesper Bratt suffered a lower-body injury Tuesday and could be out for the remainder of the season. The Devils have had a plethora of injuries up front and now their top-three players are all out as Taylor Hall has been out since December 23 with a knee injury that finally required surgery on February 28. Kyle Palmieri has been out 10 days with a lower-body injury but is on the verge of returning. Nico Hischier is out with an upper-body that will force him to miss at least a couple of more games.  Pavel Zacha is also out of action.

NEW YORK ISLANDERS

Games this week

vs. Columbus, vs. Montreal, @ Detroit, @ Minnesota

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Islanders play three games in four nights as part of their four-game week. Expect to see Robin Lehner and Thomas Greiss share the net this week. The duo continues to be outstanding for the Islanders this season. It’s been a nice season for Valtteri Filppula who has 15 goals this season as well as 13 assists. Mathew Barzal had 85 points as a rookie last season and despite being thrust into the first line center’s job (as John Tavares left for Toronto), he has only 53 points in 67 games. The good news is tat the Islanders are so much better than last season and are currently in first place in the Metropolitan with 85 points, five better than all of last season when they had only 80 points. Anders Lee had a team-leading 23 goals.

NEW YORK RANGERS

Games this week

@ Edmonton, @ Vancouver, @ Calgary, @ Minnesota

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: @ Minnesota (Saturday)

Notes

The Rangers play all four games on the road including their annual Western Canadian swing. Expect to see Henrik Lundqvist and Alexandar Georgiev share the net as the Rangers are not going anywhere and might as well see what Georgiev is capable of doing. Georgiev is 1-1-2 in his last four games- giving up nine goals on 122 shots. Kevin Shattenkirk was a healthy scratch for the second time this season on Thursday. Mika Zibanejad had a major for boarding and a game misconduct against Dallas Tuesday. The NHL rescinded the penalties on Wednesday, but Zibanejad will still get credited for them as far as his stats are concerned.

OTTAWA

Games this week

@ Philadelphia, vs. St. Louis, vs. Toronto

Rested Team: vs. Toronto (Saturday)

Tired Team: None

Notes

Chris Tierney was picked up in the Erik Karlsson trade and he hasn’t done too badly this season with seven goals and 34 assists in 68 games. The center wasn’t the centerpiece of the deal (they also received Josh Norris, Rudolfs Balcers, Dylan DeMelo and a possible four picks in the next three drafts) but he has been a useful player for Ottawa. Brian Gibbons has a four-game points streak. Anders Nilsson is 8-9-0 with a 3.08 GAA and a .910 save percentage and has played well for the Senators. Thomas Chabot has only two assists in his last nine games but has 13 goals and 48 points in 60 games. The blueliner is a terrific piece in the Senators future.

PHILADELPHIA

Games this week

vs. Ottawa, vs. Washington, @ Toronto, @ Pittsburgh

Rested Team: @ Pittsburgh (Sunday)

Tired Team: @Toronto (Friday)

Notes

The Flyers play four games this week with three occurring in four nights. Carter Hart is still out of action but says he is ready to return and that will have a huge effect on who starts this week. Look for Hart to get at least two starts and likely three with Brian Elliott getting the rest of the starts. If Hart is unable to go, then Elliott will likely get three starts with Cam Talbot picking up the other. Jakub Voracek has missed the last two games with a lower-body injury and the Flyers are hopeful that he can return this week. After scoring 36 goals for Toronto last season, James van Riemsdyk has 19 goals in 51 games with the Flyers. Shayne Gostisbehere has only six goals and 28 points in 64 games this season.

PITTSBURGH

Games this week

vs. Washington, @ Buffalo, vs. St. Louis, vs. Philadelphia

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: vs. Philadelphia (Sunday)

Notes

The Penguins play four games this week with three games in four nights. Look for Matt Murray to play three times with Casey DeSmith playing once.  Phil Kessel halted a 16-game goalless streak Thursday in a 3-0 win over Columbus. He has 67 points in 67 games this season and that is not such a bad season. He is tied for second place on the Penguins with Evgeni Malkin. Sidney Crosby leads with 87 points. Kris Letang is still day-to-day with an upper-body injury. He last played on February 23.  Jake Guentzel has 33 goals to lead the Penguins. Olli Maatta is skating again. He suffered an upper-body injury on February 11 and has not played since. Pittsburgh got Brian Dumoulin back on Tuesday from a concussion.

ST. LOUIS

Games this week

vs. Arizona, @ Ottawa, @ Pittsburgh, @ Buffalo

Rested Team: vs. Arizona (Tuesday)

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Blues play three games in four nights as part of a four-game week. Jordan Binnington should get three games with Jake Allen playing once. Binnington has been brilliant this season with a 16-3-1 record to go with a 1.80 GAA and a .929 save percentage. Allen is 18-16-5 with a 2.90 GAA and a .903 save percentage so it’s easy to see at this time who will be between the pipes for the Blues come playoff time. Vladimir Tarasenko has 28 goals and 58 points in 66 games this season and has been great since January 19 as he has 13 goals and 15 assists in 21 games. Robert Thomas had a pair of goals Wednesday and has five points in his last four games. Brayden Schenn returned from an upper-body injury Wednesday and saw himself playing on a line with Tarasenko and Ryan O'Reilly.

SAN JOSE

Games this week

@ Minnesota, @ Winnipeg, vs. Florida, vs. Nashville

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: @ Winnipeg (Tuesday)

Notes

The Sharks play three games in four nights as part of a four-game week. Martin Jones will get three starts this week with Aaron Dell getting one start. Jones has won his last three games and while his record of 32-13-5 is outstanding, his 2.91 GAA and .898 save percentage leave a lot to be desired. Gustav Nyquist scored his first goal as a San Jose Shark Thursday. Evander Kane sat out the Montreal game Thursday with a middle-body injury but should return in time for the Minnesota game if not sooner. Brent Burns has been suffering from the flu all week but missed only one game. He has 13 goals and 73 points in 67 games with a plus-15 rating. Joe Pavelski has 36 goals this season to lead the Sharks this season.

TAMPA BAY

Games this week

@ Toronto, @ Detroit, vs. Washington

Rested team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

Andrei Vasilevskiy had his 10-game winning streak halted on Thursday and that lowered his record to 31-8-4. He has a 2.24 GAA and a .931 save percentage and has to be considered one of the favorites for the Vezina. Nikita Kucherov has 77 assists this season and just his assist total would place him 14th overall in points, tied with Alex Ovechkin. Toss in his 31 goals and Kucherov is leading the NHL in points by 12 over Patrick Kane and 14 on top of Connor McDavid. Steven Stamkos has been awfully quiet this season but still has 34 goals and 79 points. Victor Hedman has been a bit of a disappointment this season offensively with only nine goals and 42 points. That is 14th best among blueliners this season.

TORONTO

Games this week

vs. Tampa Bay, vs. Chicago, vs. Philadelphia, @ Ottawa

Rested team:  vs. Philadelphia (Friday)

Tired Team: @ Ottawa (Saturday)

Notes

The Maple Leafs play four games this week including three games in four nights so look for Frederik Andersen to play three games with Garret Sparks getting a rare start. Mitch Marner surpassed the 80-point mark on Monday and has 24 goals and 82 points this season as he is on a five-game points streak in which he has 11 points including a trio of three-point games. The Maple Leafs have started signing some depth players as Sparks was inked to a one-year deal worth $750,000 while Andreas Borgman, a blueliner who saw some action with Toronto last season, signed a one-year/two-way deal worth $700,000 when he plays in the NHL. Toronto may need cap help next season as they are going to be a top-heavy salaried team and players like Sparks and Borgman could be valuable in 2019-20.  Nazem Kadri has started practicing as he attempts to return from a concussion suffered on February 19.

VANCOUVER

Games this week

vs. New York Rangers, vs. New Jersey, @ Dallas

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

Alexander Edler scored Wednesday in his 800th career game. The veteran blueliner could be headed elsewhere next season as he is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent come July 1. Brock Boeser picked up his first multiple point night on Thursday since January 20 as he had a pair of assists. Loui Eriksson scored Wednesday and it was his first point in 15 games. Ryan Spooner is out with a groin injury and Ben Hutton is out with a foot injury. Sven Baertschi has been out of action with a concussion since February 2 and while he has been making progress, he may not be able to play again this season. Jacob Markstrom is 24-19-8 this season with a 2.70 GAA and a .915 save percentage.

VEGAS

Games this week

@ Dallas, vs. Edmonton

Rested Team: @ Dallas (Friday), vs. Edmonton (Sunday)

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Vegas Golden Knights have an easy week with only two games and they are the rested team in both contests. Marc-Andre Fleury has been great recently, giving up only two goals in his last four games, all wins. The netminder is 33-19-5 with a 2.49 GAA and a .912 save percentage. He has faced 111 shots in the last four contests. The Golden Knights have won five games in a row, coinciding with the trade for Mark Stone. Stone has only two assists in the five contests but he will start scoring soon enough. William Carrier has played in only four games since January 4 but is still second in the NHL in hits with 247, 10 behind teammate Ryan Reaves. Max Pacioretty leads the Knights with 21 goals, one better than Jonathan Marchessault.

WASHINGTON

Games this week

@ Pittsburgh, @ Philadelphia, @ Tampa Bay

Rested team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Capitals are on the road for all three games. Tom Wilson scored his 19th of the season on Wednesday in a win over Philadelphia. Jakub Vrana also has 19 goals and his 41 points is a career high. He also has points in four of his last five games. Braden Holtby has won four games in a row with the last one being his 250th in his NHL career. He is 25-16-4 with a 2.94 GAA and a .909 save percentage. Alex Ovechkin popped his 46th goal of the season Wednesday and has 77 points in 2018-19. Carl Hagelin scored his first goal in a Washington uniform Sunday in his third game. Nicklas Backstrom has 63 points in 66 games and it appears that he will better the 71-point season he had last year.

WINNIPEG

Games this week

vs. San Jose, vs. Boston, vs. Calgary

Rested team: vs. San Jose (Tuesday), vs. Calgary (Saturday)

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Jets are home for all three games this week and are the rested team in two-of-three games. They trail the Predators for the top spot in the Central by one point, albeit with three games in hand. Winnipeg has struggled of late as they are 4-5-1 in their last 10 games. Dustin Byfuglien could be skating any day now as he recovers from a lower-body injury (thought to be an ankle injury). He has been out since February 14 and the Jets miss his presence. Jacob Trouba is having a strong season this year offensively with five goals and 37 points. He leads all Winnipeg defensemen in points although Byfuglien has 30 points in only 37 games.
