NHL Plays: Saturday

Updated On: January 18, 2020, 5:38 am ET

NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check Rotoworld’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 4W, 2D, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL) and Yahoo has a $200 budget for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

Auston Matthews (TOR) – C - $8,600 FanDuel, $8,400 DraftKings, $34 Yahoo

Matthews has 15 goals and 23 points in his last 14 contests. Over that span he’s had five multi-goal games, including Tuesday when he had a hat trick. His next contest is against Chicago, which ranks in the bottom-third of the league defensively.

Jack Eichel (BUF) – C - $8,100 FanDuel, $7,500 DraftKings, $33 Yahoo

Eichel will go into Saturday’s contest on a nine-game point streak. He’s recorded four goals and 11 points over that span. That’s brought him up to 28 markers and 62 points in 47 contests.

Mitchell Marner (TOR) – W - $7,800 FanDuel, $7,700 DraftKings, $29 Yahoo

Marner has only been held off the scoresheet twice over his last 18 games. He’s up to 13 goals and 46 points in 37 contests this season. As mentioned with Matthews, Toronto will be playing against Chicago on Saturday, so there is a fair chance that this will be a high scoring game for the Blackhawks.

Jonathan Huberdeau (FLA) – W - $7,400 FanDuel, $7,500 DraftKings, $29 Yahoo

Huberdeau has recorded at least a point in 12 of his last 14 games. He’s scored seven goals and 25 points over that span. That gives him 62 points in 46 contests, which is incredible at his price.

Bargain Bin: Sean Couturier (PHI) - $6,800 FanDuel/$6,500 DraftKings/$22 Yahoo, Jonathan Toews (CHI) - $6,700 FanDuel/$7,200 DraftKings/$19 Yahoo, Tomas Tatar (MON) - $6,500 FanDuel/$5,100 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Evgenii Dadonov (FLA) - $6,300 FanDuel/$6,800 DraftKings/$20 Yahoo, Vincent Trocheck (FLA) - $5,800 FanDuel/$6,200 DraftKings/$19 Yahoo, Bo Horvat (VAN) - $5,700 FanDuel/$5,900 DraftKings/$20 Yahoo.

Erik Karlsson (SJS) - $6,800 FanDuel, $5,800 DraftKings, $20 Yahoo

Karlsson was held off the scoresheet in his last game, but before that he was on a six-game point streak. It’s worth adding that the Sharks as a team were shutout on Thursday, so it wasn’t just Karlsson who posted a 0 in that contest. Although the Sharks have disappointed this season, Karlsson has contributed regularly with five goals and 35 points in 48 contests.

John Klingberg (DAL) - $5,600 FanDuel, $4,400 DraftKings, $20 Yahoo

Klingberg has nine assists in his last eight games. It’s a great stretch in what has been a mixed campaign for him. He has two goals and 19 points in 36 contests, which puts this in danger of being his least offensively productive season to date. He recorded at least 40 points in each of his first five campaigns. Still, he’s hot and at an affordable price.

Bargain Bin: Drew Doughty (LAK) - $5,400 FanDuel/$4,400 DraftKings/$15 Yahoo, Tyson Barrie (TOR) - $5,300 FanDuel/$5,700 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Seth Jones (CBJ) - $5,000 FanDuel/$5,00 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo.

Carey Price (MON) - $8,700 FanDuel, $7,900 DraftKings, $27 Yahoo

Price has been incredible recently, allowing just two goals over his last three starts. He’ll be up against Vegas next, which is a tough task, but given how well he’s been doing lately, I still think he’s worth taking a chance on.

Linus Ullmark (BUF) - $7,800 FanDuel, $7,300 DraftKings, $29 Yahoo

Ullmark has allowed two or fewer goals in his last three starts and five of his last six games. He’s improved to a 16-12-3 record, 2.72 GAA, and .913 save percentage in 31 contests. Even when he’s hot, he’s a risk, but his price point is low enough that he’s worth it.

Bargain Bin: Elvis Merzlikins (CBJ) - $7,600 FanDuel/$8,200 DraftKings/$29 Yahoo, Jacob Markstrom (VAN) - $7,500 FanDuel/$8,000 DraftKings/$37 Yahoo.
