Following a busy Saturday that was filled with eleven games, Sunday brings us just three. With six teams in action, you should also note that two teams are playing on back-to-back nights (Wild and Jets). If you are trying to choose between two players that you have projected to hit the same point target on a short slate, selecting the player who is not skating on back-to-back nights may be the better selection. The games on FanDuel lock at 7:00 p.m. Eastern this evening, so you will have plenty of time to study and set your NHL lineups after football starts.

Corey Crawford, Chicago Blackhawks, $8,700 – As the suspected heaviest moneyline favorite on the night (the Vegas line has yet to post), the Blackhawks will be well-rested for their game this evening against the Minnesota Wild, who travelled overnight south from Minnesota to Chicago following a 3-1 loss to the Nashville Predators. Crawford beat this same Wild team three nights ago by saving 42 of 44 shots. Going into Sunday’s game, Crawford owns a 2.19 GAA to go with a .921 SV%. Moreover, against the Wild over his career, Crawford owns a 6-3-2 record and 2.35 GAA and a .913 SV%. As the second high-priced netminder on the night, facing a team that averages 31.8 shots per game as a favorite, roster Crawford in your cash games. The play here has more to do with the overall chances that the Blackhawks have to win the game, which gives him the best chance to score you an all important “W” for your FanDuel lineup.

Other Goalies To Target (Cash Games) – Frederick Andersen

Other Goalies To Target (Tournaments)Roberto Luongo

Ryan Getzlaf, Anaheim Ducks, $8,700 – Your cash game lineups should start with rostering Getzlaf over any other superstar center. With three goals, nine assists, a +3 rating and 25 shots in his past ten games, Getzlaf is averaging 3.73  FDP over that span. At $2,344/FDP over his last six games, Getzlaf is not quite hitting value at his current price, but in your quest to hit a target score in the mid-30s in your cash games, he will help you reach your goal. Put Getzlaf in one of your center spots and move on to the rest of your lineup. Keep in mind that the Jets played to a tough 5-4 shootout win last night down the road in Los Angeles and their next game is back in Winnipeg so it is possible the Jets suffer from a lack of focus in a get-away game on the last night of a Southwest US road trip.

Other Centers To Target (Cash Games)Jonathan Toews, Brad Richards, Nick Bjugstad

Other Centers To Target (Tournaments)Brad Boyes, Mark Scheifele

Patrick Sharp, Chicago Blackhawks, $8,400 – At $8,400, Sharp is the top overall play at a wing spot on the day when taking price and projected performance taken into consideration. In constructing lineups for today’s slate, the play seems to be to start with Corey Crawford, Ryan Getzlaf and then add Sharp to your core group. The Blackhawks’ third line and first power play unit left winger is the third-most expensive winger in play, but he has at least one point in five of his last seven games. During that time, he has four goals and two assists. In what will be a high-event and high-paced game, in which Vegas should set the O/U at 5.5 goals, roster Sharp and find value at your second LW slot.

Jimmy Hayes, Florida Panthers, $4,000 – Both the Panthers and the Oilers are well-rested, but we have a Panthers team playing in Edmonton as a -119 moneyline favorite. What this means is that with most of the public typically betting the home team, with a -119 ML in favor of the road team (and not a -110 or -105 for both teams), Vegas clearly likes the road team. The over/under is 5.0 goals, but most books are at -150 to hit the over, which essentially makes this a 5.5 O/U. I see the game as 3-2 in favor of the Panthers with the possibility of an EN goal, which pushes it to a 4-2 game. With this in mind, we need exposure to the Panthers. At $4,000, Hayes needs 2.35 FDP to hit value and he has averaged 2.475 FDP over his past four games, which includes one 0.4 FDP game.  Panthers’ skaters typically fly under the radar on most nights, but on a short slate day, you must pay attention. Hayes skates on the team’s top line and first power play unit with Jussi Jokinen and Nick Bjugstad. His fantasy production is fairly safe due to the amount of shots he takes and the fact that he creates much of the team’s offense when he’s on the ice.

Other Wingers To Target (Cash Games)Patrick Kane, Corey Perry, Brandon Saad, Sean Bergenheim, Andrew Ladd

Other Wingers To Target (Tournaments)Kyle Palmieri, Blake Wheeler, Zach Parise

Duncan Keith, Chicago Blackhawks, $5,800 – The superstar defenseman has seen his price drop $200 over the past week due to a few poor games. Much of this price drop and poor performance can be attributed to the Hawks inability to simply put the puck in the net despite a 50+ shot performance against the Avalanche five nights ago. After this, the Hawks suffered a brutal loss to the lowly Oilers in Edmonton. Now back on home ice against a high-paced team in the Wild, Keith will be asked to quarterback the team’s offensive push. Lineup construction tonight allows you to roster Keith along with Ryan Getzlaf and Patrick Sharp if you find value at your second D slot and at least one of your wing slots (e.g., Jimmy Hayes). This game between the Hawks and Wild will have plenty of shots and plenty of goals, and you will want at least two skaters from this game. The Blackhawks, led by Keith at the point, will also attack the Wild’s penalty kill unit that has given up seven short-handed goals in their last ten games.

Aaron Ekblad, Florida Panthers, $4,400 – If you want the opportunity to roster an expensive defenseman tonight, you must find value at your second D slot. My projections have situated Panthers’ skaters as some of the top values on the slate, and Ekblad, who skates with Brian Campbell on the team’s first even-strength D pairing, as well as on their first PP unit, should see upwards of 23:00-24:00 minutes of ice time tonight. As the top blueliner on a young and fun team to watch, Ekblad has at least one point in four of his last six games (with four assists), and he also is a +7 over his last eight games. The +/- rating is especially important on FD, and as a top-ten puck possession team, the Panthers should dominate a bottom-ten puck possession team in the Oilers, which boosts Ekblad’s value.

Other Defensemen To Target (Cash Games) Brent Seabrook, Sami Vatanen,

Other Defensemen To Target (Tournaments)Dustin Byfuglien, Ryan Suter, David Rundblad
