Waiver Wired

All Aboard the Lee Train

Updated On: October 4, 2018, 4:04 pm ET

A couple of weeks ago Mathieu Perreault was owned in 32% of Yahoo leagues, but that has raised to 42%. If by chance he is still available then pick up him. Perreault is enjoying a career year in Winnipeg this season with 18 goals and 36 points in 54 games. He's on pace to hit the 50-point mark. Perreault and Mark Scheifele got a new linemate when the Jets acquired Drew Stafford from Buffalo in the Evander Kane trade.

Anders Lee (NYI) - C, LW - Owned in 13% of Yahoo leagues

Lee has been a very popular addition on the waiver wire recently, but he's still available in plenty of leagues. He is playing on the Islanders' top line with John Tavares and Josh Bailey. The results of the promotion have been good so far, as Lee has five goals and five assists in his past seven appearances. He collected four helpers in Saturday's 6-3 victory over Columbus to extend his point streak to four straight games. The top line amassed 11 points on the night. The 24-year-old rookie has 18 goals on the year and he's not shy about shooting the puck, which typically suits Tavares just fine. Lee also has five of his 10 assists this year since being placed on the first unit.

Blake Comeau (PIT) - LW, RW - Owned in 16% of Yahoo leagues

Comeau is another player who finds himself contributing from an enviable line. He has been skating with Evgeni Malkin and Patric Hornqvist since he returned from a 20-game absence. Comeau has a goal and two assists in his past two games after recovering from a wrist injury. He has registered 12 goals and 22 points in 34 contests. Comeau is also a decent source of hits (102) if your league counts that statistic.

David Desharnais (MTL) - C - Owned in 18% of Yahoo leagues

Desharnais has worked himself back up from the third line to skate alongside Montreal's leading scorer Max Pacioretty again. He has produced two goals and six assists in his last seven matches. Desharnais was awarded with the NHL's third star of the week this past Monday. His five-game point streak came to an end against Edmonton on Thursday, but as long as he is paired with Pacioretty he should be a solid source of assists.

Derick Brassard (NYR) - C - Owned in 46% of Yahoo leagues

Brassard has a higher percentage of ownership than I normally include in this space, but I find it surprising that he's owned in less than half of Yahoo leagues. He's playing between Rick Nash and a red hot Mats Zuccarello. 'The Norwegian Hobbit' has seen his ownership climb to 54% thanks to a few busy days on the waiver wire and Brassard has had a helping hand in that. The Rangers center has generated eight points, including seven helpers, in his past seven outings. Brassard is known to run and cold, which has done this season as well, but he's on pace for a career year and he's already recorded 43 points in 52 matches.

Travis Hamonic (NYI) - D - Owned in 24% of Yahoo leagues

Hamonic notched five goals and 26 points in his rookie campaign, but he hasn't surpassed the 20-point mark since his sophomore season. The 24-year-old blueliner could hit 30 points this season if his hot streak can continue. Hamonic had his four-game point streak (five assists) end Saturday night after a helper was taken away from him. He has produced 11 points and a plus-11 rating in his past 17 contests. Hamonic leads the Islanders' defense corps with 146 hits and he has 93 blocks, so he can contribute in real-time categories as well.

Mark Stone (OTT) - RW - Owned in 6% of Yahoo leagues

Stone is projected to see plenty of ice time for Ottawa down the stretch. He has topped 20 minutes in two of his past three contests. Stone has been on a tear offensively since the New Year with five goals and 11 assists in his last 17 games. He ranks third in the NHL in rookie scoring with 33 points in 52 games. Stone skates along Kyle Turris, who has been picking up his game of late, and Milan Michalek, who has vastly improved his point production since the calendar changed to 2015.

Mike Hoffman (OTT) - C, LW - Owned in 17% of Yahoo leagues

Hoffman has enjoyed a successful rookie campaign in Ottawa as well. He co-leads the NHL among first-year players with 19 goals and sits fourth in points with 32 in 51 matches. Hoffman has tallied four goals and five helpers in his past nine games. He's been incredibly consistent this year and he hasn't gone more than two games without reaching scoresheet since Nov. 15-Nov. 22. Hoffman has fit in nicely on a line with Mika Zibanejad and Senators' leading point getter Bobby Ryan.

Andrei Vasilevskiy (TBL) - G - Owned in 13% of Yahoo leagues

Vasilevskiy wasn't called up by the Lightning to sit on the bench for long stretches. Ben Bishop has hit a bit of a rough patch recently, so Vasilevskiy could end up seeing more action than coach Jon Cooper had originally planned. The Bolts play four times next week, so the 20-year-old netminder should be expected to play at least once and it might come against Arizona on Saturday. He owns a 4-1-1 record to go with a .932 save percentage and a 2.00 goals-against average in eight NHL appearances. Vasilevskiy is a great keeper to add to your bench for depth purposes.

Drew Stafford (WPG) - RW - Owned in 4% of Yahoo leagues

Stafford can be a frustrating player to own because of his streakiness.  However, he could be poised to go on a run with the Jets shortly.  As previously mentioned, he is playing alongside Perreault and Scheifele on the second line.  Stafford also got some time with Bryan Little and Andrew Ladd on Saturday night against Detroit.  He scored his first goal as a member of the Jets in that contest, while seeing time on the second power-play unit, and finished with five shots on goal.  If he keeps getting placed in scenarios to succeed then a hot streak could be just around the corner.

Dwight King (LAK) - LW - Owned in 1% of Yahoo leagues

King is the newest member of the 'That 70s Line' and he's been earning plenty of points alongside Jeff Carter and Tyler Toffoli. He has collected three goals and two assists in his past three games to give him 18 points in 54 games this season. His elevated role makes him a decent under-the-radar addition right now.
