Power Play Report

Not scoring on the Power Play

Updated On: October 4, 2018, 4:04 pm ET

There are 10 players thus far who have had at least 30 minutes on the power play and have yet to score. The number in brackets is the times they have been on the ice for a power play goal.

Alex Tanguay    49:02 (5)

Jack Johnson      48:02 (1)

Jonathan Toews 47:50 (6)

Sami Vatanen     38:37 (4)

Mark Giordano   36:32 (4)

Sam Reinhart      35:31 (4)

Benoit Pouliot    35:10 (4)

Marian Gaborik  34:31 (2)

Elias Lindholm   34:07 (2)

Michael Raffl     31:53 (1)

I wouldn’t be too worried about Toews, Giordano and Vatanen as they are on the ice for plenty of goals and their points will come. Tanguay is now hurt so he won’t be seeing any ice time in the foreseeable future.

The player who concerns me the most is Jack Johnson. The power play is floundering when he is on the ice and it looks like he has been overtaken by Ryan Murray who has only three power play points bur has been on the ice for nine power play goals. Coach John Tortorella really likes Ryan Murray and what’s not to like. Be wary if someone offers you Johnson in a deal.
