For "bargains" on FanDuel, typically we’ll focus on players who are priced at $6,000 or lower.
We have a small, three game slate tonight, so I will be listing the top five value plays by priority for your lineups.
Just a quick note that these player picks were organized early in the day. For the NBA, there is usually a plethora of news trickling out through the afternoon, which could open up some more value plays. Be sure to keep posted with the NBA Headlines & Injuries section, as the wonderful contributors over there will break down the DFS consequences of every piece of news.
Now onto the bargain plays:
1 - Luis Scola – PF – Toronto (FanDuel Price: $4,300)
Scola’s fantasy production has been up-and-down ever since starting center Jonas Valanciunas has been hurt. However, he’s definitely trending upward at the moment. Scola has played 33 and 30 minutes over the past two games, hitting 27 and 25 fantasy points respectively. That indicates great value moving forward, especially considering the matchup against a Philadelphia team that ranks 23rd in defensive efficiency against power forwards. Scola should be one of the first value plays in your lineup.
2 - Trey Burke – PG – Utah (FanDuel Price: $4,900)
The strategy at point guard today is to take one expensive option (Westbrook or Lowry), then one cheaper pick (Burke or Joseph). I prefer Burke a little more than Joseph, as he’s a slightly better fantasy producer. More on Cory Joseph’s situation later … Burke has been seeing more minutes as of late, topping 30+ in three of his past five games. He produced a solid 27 FP against Oklahoma City on Friday, and this is the highest projected scoring game within this slate.
3 - Bismack Biyombo – C – Toronto (FanDuel Price: $4,000)
With Jonas Valanciunas still out, Biyombo will continue to start and see 30+ minutes in every game. He doesn’t have much of an offensive game, but Biyombo has proven the ability to retain value through rebounds and blocks. Ideally, you’d want to fit Marc Gasol in your lineup, but he’s somewhat pricey for a less than ideal matchup against Miami. Falling back on Biyombo, then stabilizing your lineup everywhere else isn’t a bad strategy.
4 - Trevor Booker – PF – Utah (FanDuel Price: $4,300)
Trevor Booker has been somewhat volatile while helping fill in for Rudy Gobert. However, he produced a solid 21 FP in 24 minutes against Oklahoma City on Friday, and he has a reasonable chance at replicating that total for decent value. Luis Scola is more of a priority for the same price, but Booker can be looked at in tournaments.
5 - Cory Joseph – PG – Toronto (FanDuel Price: $4,500)
Joseph has a good matchup against Philadelphia, and he has seen 30+ minutes off the bench in seven of the past eight games. The results, however, have been less stable, as he has been within 12-26 fantasy points. I believe Trey Burke is a better value PG target for a similar price. If the extra $400 breaks your lineup, falling back with “CoJo” is acceptable.
Matt Barnes – SF – Memphis (FanDuel Price: $4,100)
Barnes is more of a tournament play, but he is cash acceptable if you are in a pinch. The floor is low (as displayed with a 4 FP mark in 19 minutes vs OKC last week), but he has been seeing 25+ minutes lately for Memphis. There really isn’t any other value small forward to feel confident in, so rolling the dice on Barnes, then paying up at other positions could be a fine strategy in this limited slate.
