NHL GPP Plays: Tuesday

Updated On: December 3, 2018, 6:02 pm ET

Every Tuesday and Thursday I am going to give you my top tournament plays for all Daily Fantasy Hockey GPPs (guaranteed prize pool). GPPs are a general term used across the industry for your big money tournaments.

GPPs are very different from your cash games and you use a different strategy with them. In our GPPs we are not interested in safe plays, since GPPs are all about UPSIDE. We want players who can explode, as all-or-nothing type players can become GPP gold, and your value players are just as important as your star players. You need your players to have huge nights in order to take down these big tournaments.

My goal is to provide players who will be under-owned and have that big game upside you are looking for. I will also try to find as much value as I possibly can. Now, let’s get to the FanDuel NHL GPP plays!

Make sure to check the RotoGrinders Starting Goalies Page prior to game time, to confirm that the goalies listed below are starting.

Cam Talbot, Edmonton Oilers - After a slow start to the season Cam Talbot has really picked up his game with a very good month of December and a terrific January thus far. The Columbus Blue Jackets have really struggled away from home this season and they lack offensive upside, however they are still firing a healthy 30 shots per game. Talbot should see plenty of shots in this game and I think he comes away with the win tonight. At his price across the industry, that makes Talbot a great GPP option.

Other Goalies To Target – Cory Schneider, Devan Dubnyk, Connor Hellebuyck, Louis Domingue, Martin Jones

Phil Kessel, Pittsburgh Penguins – Kessel has finally started to come around offensively, producing three goals, four points and 16 shots on net in his last three games. Because the Ottawa Senators play such a wide open style of hockey, they will continue to give up an abundance of shots against (allowing 33.1 shots against per game, most in the NHL), and allow plenty of scoring chances on a nightly basis. Kessel has been pretty much ignored all season long by daily fantasy owners and despite the great matchup, I doubt he is all that popular tonight.

Evgeny Kuznetsov, Washington Capitals - Kuznetsov has been on fire for the Washington Capitals of late, and even though he has not scored in his last three games, he has been distributing more than the Cartel with eight assists during that span. With Alexander Ovechkin in the press box and a stingy Florida Panthers team in town, I expect Kuznetsov and the Capitals’ offense to be highly under-owned in tournaments this evening.

Leon Draisaitl, Edmonton Oilers – The Edmonton Oilers are a much better offensive team on home ice and I think they are sneaky tonight versus a poor defensive Columbus Blue Jackets team playing one of their back-up goalies. The Blue Jackets continue to lead the National Hockey league in goals against per game. Centering the Oilers’ top line and number one power play unit, Draisaitl has multi-point upside in this plus matchup on home ice.

Cam Atkinson, Columbus Blue Jackets – I expect to see goals from both teams in this game and Atkinson has been white hot recently, registering four goals, five points and nine shots on net in his last two contests. The Edmonton Oilers have lost their last three games, allowing 13 goals against on the process. Look for Atkinson to find the score sheet again tonight versus the defensively challenged Oilers.

Other Forwards To Target – Derick Brassard, Jeff Carter, Jason Spezza, Artem Anisimov, Mats Zuccarello, Brendan Gallagher, Wayne Simmonds, Mike Hoffman, Nikolaj Ehlers

Shayne Gostisbehere, Philadelphia Flyers, $4,700 - Gostisbehere continues to shine offensively for the Philadelphia Flyers, dishing out five helpers in his last three games.

The Montreal Canadiens are struggling badly right now (losing seven of their last eight, allowing 30 goals along the way) and this will likely continue until they get Carey Price back in the crease. Gostisbehere’s offensive abilities are undeniable and I love his potential tonight versus the Habs and their weak goaltending.

Other Defensemen To Target – Brent Seabrook, Jake Muzzin, Nick Leddy, Andrei Markov
