FanDuel Bargain Bin: Wednesday

Updated On: October 4, 2018, 4:04 pm ET

When looking at “bargains” on FanDuel, typically we’ll focus on players who are priced at $6,000 or lower.

We have a hearty nine game slate on tap tonight, meaning I will be ranking the top ten bargains by priority to your FanDuel NBA lineups.

Just a quick note that these player picks were organized early in the day. For the NBA, there is usually a plethora of news trickling out through the afternoon, which could open up some more value plays. Be sure to keep posted with the NBA Headlines & Injuries section, as the wonderful contributors over there will break down the DFS consequences of every piece of news.

Now onto the bargain plays.

1 - Zach LaVine – SG – Minnesota (FanDuel Price: $5,700)

First off, let me say that I had a difficult time ranking these options, as we have similar players with similar value projections throughout this list. However, I believe that LaVine is a strong presence of floor and upside to fit within your lineup. He’s taking on a decimated Memphis team that ranks 21st vs opposing shooting guards. With so many injuries, Tony Allen has been forced to play some small forward, leaving LaVine with a better matchup against either Lance Stephenson or Ray McCallum.

2 - Taj Gibson – PF – Chicago (FanDuel Price: $5,300)

Pau Gasol has been ruled out again, meaning Gibson will need to play at least 34-35 minutes for the beat-up Chicago frontcourt. He was successful within that role despite a tricky matchup at Toronto on Monday, hitting 33 fantasy points in 35 minutes. The matchup tonight is better, taking on a Wizards team that ranks below average against opposing frontcourt players. Taj is a safe source of value this evening.

3 - Nikola Mirotic – SF – Chicago (FanDuel Price: $5,100)

Mirotic started in place of Pau Gasol last game, responding with 27 fantasy points in 32 minutes. He should see that type of playing time once again, and as I mentioned with his teammate Taj Gibson, the draw against Washington isn’t bad at all. There are several value small forwards within this slate (Fournier, Barnes, etc), but Mirotic has the best price, floor, and ceiling combination of that bunch.

4 - Evan Fournier – SF – Orlando (FanDuel Price: $5,600)

Fournier is a good play that becomes a great play if either Nikola Vucevic and/or Elfrid Payton are ruled out. That would solidify high minute totals and a decent usage rate within the starting lineup. Fournier has been consistent lately with or without injuries to his teammates, and his opponent, Charlotte, ranks 19th vs opposing small forwards.

5 - Avery Bradley – SG – Boston (FanDuel Price: $5,200)

Bradley isn’t an exciting play with much upside, but he should be a satisfying value to help you grab upside at other positions. This matchup against Oklahoma City is one of the higher scoring contests of the day (220 over/under), and Bradley could get things working in the fastbreak department. He has posted moderate fantasy totals lately, but the game environment and absence of teammate Jae Crowder makes him a nice selection this evening.

6 - Matt Barnes – SF – Memphis (FanDuel Price: $5,600)

At small forward, I’m using some combination of Rudy Gay, Nikola Mirotic, Evan Fournier, and Matt Barnes. That is where lineup configuration is taking me, as there are better plays to spend up for at other positions. Barnes is more of a risk/reward proposition, and the game log will tell you everything you need to know about his consistency (or lack thereof). However, some of that can be blamed on recent blowouts, and tonight’s matchup vs Minnesota has a tight spread that should feature full minutes for Memphis’ starters.

7 - Darren Collison – PG – Sacramento (FanDuel Price: $5,300)

Collison is a satisfying PG2 play, as he has been seeing 33+ minutes consistently as of late. The matchup is very good against a New Orleans team that ranks 24th against backcourt members. On top of that, this is one of the highest scoring games of the night, holding a 221 over/under with the Kings favored by just 3. Collison is fresh off a 30 FP performance (41 minutes) at the LA Lakers, so he could carry some momentum into this “plus matchup”.

8 - Toney Douglas – PG – New Orleans (FanDuel Price: $4,500)

Douglas is a sleeper tournament pick tonight, and I’m assuming the plethora of quality point guards will direct some of the ownership away from him. Norris Cole has been ruled doubtful tonight, meaning Douglas will need to pick up some slack (Eric Gordon out as well). Douglas hasn’t exactly been a beacon of consistency, but he has shown the ability to light it up when given an opportunity. He posted 42 FP in 38 minutes last game at Golden State; 31 FP in 42 minutes two games prior at Memphis.

9 - Enes Kanter – C – Oklahoma City (FanDuel Price: $5,200)

Kanter will forever be a tournament only recommendation, as it’s hard to feel overly confident in a guy who only sees around 25 minutes. However, Kanter has been a monster lately, hitting 30+ fantasy points in four of the past five games, flexing some remarkable efficiency. The matchup is decent in a high-scoring environment at Boston tonight, so consider him while making multiple tournament lineups.

10 - Jason Smith – PF – Orlando (FanDuel Price: $3,600)

If Nikola Vucevic is ruled out (questionable at the time of publication), Smith vaults up this list. Even though he didn’t start last night, Smith came off the bench to put up 41 FP in 28 minutes. In fact, he has recorded some very nice efficiency as of late, producing 79 fantasy points in just 62 minutes over the past three games. If Vucevic is ruled out, Smith may be worth a look at this near-minimum salary.
