- I was spared the tough decision on whether to go Donaldson or Manny Machado at the top by Machado gaining shortstop eligibility. I had them nearly even in the preseason, and little has changed since.
- Ruiz, who turns 22 this month, is making a case to take over at third base for the Braves; he’s batting .323/.402/.475 with two homers in Triple-A. I doubt he’ll be of any use in mixed leagues this year, but he’s worth a stash in NL-only formats.
- The other prospect to crack the top 40 here is Oakland’s Chapman. He’s followed up an excellent spring by hitting .247/.369/.581 with eight homers in 93 at-bats for Double-A Midland. He’s striking out too much to hit for average in the majors, but the power is awfully impressive.
