FanDuel Fades: March 9

Updated On: October 4, 2018, 4:04 pm ET

Welcome to FanDuel Fades where he highlight players you might want to avoid tonight.  Below that you'll also find a list of tonight's probable goaltenders.

Alex Ovechkin (WAS) - W - $8,500

There's always a chance that Ovechkin is going to have a big game, so take this one with a grain of salt, but Ovechkin has been a tad off lately.  He has no goals and an assist in his last six games and has gone 15 contests without an even-strength goal, which is the second longest drought of that kind in his career.  Meanwhile, Patrick Kane ($8,600) is a red hot alternative while Nikita Kucherov ($7,900) is only one game removed from a six-game point streak.

Ryan Kesler (ANA) - C -$6,100

Kesler hasn't found the back of the net in nine games and has three assists over that span.  To further complicate matters, the Ducks will be facing Chicago, which has been red hot lately.

Taylor Hall (NJD) - W - $6,500

Hall has no goals and two assists in his last seven games.  At least New Jersey is going to be playing against Colorado tonight so there's some hope for the Devils, but at the same time they seem to be limping to the finish line with eight straight losses, including three shutout defeats in their last four games.

Eric Staal (MIN) - C - $5,600

Staal's average of 12 FanDuel points per game is rather good for his price point, but he hasn't been as consistent of a producer lately.  He had 15 goals and 39 points in 41 games through Jan. 14, but since then he's recorded a far more modest four goals and nine points in 23 contests.  He still has enjoyed a sprinkling of good games over that span, but he's more of a roll of the dice now.

Corey Perry (ANA) - W - $5,700

Perry has gone 10 straight games without a goal and has been held off the scoresheet entirely in seven of his last eight contests.  We're winding down on what has been a very disappointing campaign for him as he's gone from scoring 34 goals in 2015-16 to just 11 goals in 66 games this season.

Rick Nash (NYR) - W - $6,500

Nash hasn't been anything special lately with a goal and three points in his last eight games.  This is also his third road contest in the span of four days, so fatigue is a bit of a concern.

Ryan Miller (VAN) - G - $8,400

Miller will probably start on Thursday but at the time of writing that hasn't been confirmed.  This will be a tough game for Miller and the Canucks though as the Islanders have posted a 14-6-3 record since Doug Weight took over as their bench boss.  The Islanders should also be the more motivated squad as they're in the midst of a fierce battle for a Wild Card spot while the Canucks aren't likely to make the playoffs.

Jeff Carter (LAK) - C - $7,200

Carter has just one goal and three points in his last eight games.  He has 30 goals this season, but he tends to score in bunches, so wait until he starts heating up again before using him.

Martin Jones (SJS) - G - $8,900

Jones hasn't been confirmed to be the starter for tonight's game, but there's a good chance he will be between the pipes.  He'll be up against Washington though, which has been one of the strongest offensive teams this season.  Washington did lose to Dallas on Monday, but the Capitals have only lost back-to-back games once in 2017 (Feb. 18-19) and one of those two defeats was settled in a shootout.

Ryan McDonagh (NYR) - D - $5,300

McDonagh has an assist in his last eight games.  As mentioned above with Nash, fatigue is also a bit of a concern for the Rangers as they're heading into their third road game in four days.
