* Miguel Cabrera finally breaks down, and the Tigers begin an aggressive organizational rebuild while the 11-time All-Star lingers on the disabled list for months.

* Adam Eaton immediately clicks in Washington, scoring 130 runs as the Nationals’ everyday leadoff man. Bryce Harper wins NL MVP with 140 RBI, then ups his asking price on an extension to $600 million.

* Aaron Nola picks up from where he left off before his sudden collapse and elbow issue last season and arrives as a top-20 starting pitcher.

* Yu Darvish sets himself up for a big payday after winning the AL Cy Young Award in his walk year. Kate Upton sends a congratulatory tweet.

Three Bold Predictions for 2017...

* Trea Turner proves that his superb half-season in 2016 was just an appetizer, finishing as the No. 2 fantasy performer behind Mike Trout as a five-category stud.

* Dylan Bundy stays healthy and thrives in his first full season in the Orioles' rotation, winding up as a top-30 fantasy starter.

* Bartolo Colon no-hits the Marlins on June 16, 23 days after his 44th birthday. On June 17, Jeffrey Loria begins another rebuild by trading Giancarlo Stanton to the Yankees.

MATTHEW POULIOT

National League Champ: Chicago Cubs
American League Champ: Boston Red Sox
World Series Champ: Chicago Cubs

Three Bold Predictions for 2017...

* Ian Desmond and Tommy Murphy put up nice fantasy numbers, but it’s the Rockies’ underrated rotation, led by Jon Gray, that keeps the team in Wild Card contention until the final weekend of the season.

* Noah Syndergaard establishes himself as the game’s second-best starting pitcher, though he still falls well short of Clayton Kershaw in the NL Cy Young balloting.

* The Red Sox lose Game 7 of the World Series at Wrigley after the Cubs bring out Drake LaRoche to sing the National Anthem and Chris Sale surrenders six runs in the first inning.

NATE GRIMM

National League Champ: Washington Nationals
American League Champ: Cleveland Indians
World Series Champ: Cleveland Indians

Three Bold Predictions for 2017...

* Michael Brantley and A.J. Pollock both enjoy a full return to form in 2017, vastly outperforming their ADPs and making owners wonder why they ever doubted either player.

* Francisco Liriano once more rises from the ashes to post a 3.50 ERA while striking out more than a batter per inning and winning 13 games for the Blue Jays.

* Mark Melancon leads the league in saves, but burned by the memory of the 2016 NLDS, Giants manager Bruce Bochy stays true to his vow and lets only Madison Bumgarner pitch in the postseason.
