Wednesday's Pickups of the Day

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a great time and started 2014 off right. I took one for the team and hit all the blurbs on Tuesday night, so be sure to check out the player news page right here. Of course, I wouldn't call it taking one for the team because I love my job.

Here are some pickups from a seven-game day:

Editor's Note: Rotoworld's partner FanDuel is hosting a one-day $85,000 Fantasy Basketball league for Wednesday night's games. It's $25 to join and first prize is $9,000. Starts at 6pm on Wednesday. Here's the FanDuel link.

Jonas Valanciunas - Should be owned in all leagues.

Giannis Antetokounmpo - Green jacket, Gold jacket? Small forward, shooting guard? Who gives a shot? He's a must-own player.

Terrence Jones - He should be owned in all leagues. This is a recording.

Anderson Varejao - He's way under-owned in most leagues. Varejao had 14 points, 11 boards, one steal and one block on Tuesday.

Ersan Ilyasova - Most guys would require the "we'd need to see him do it again" deal, but he was too good last season.

Jarrett Jack - Kyrie Irving needs an MRI on his knee, so Jack has to be speculatively added across the board.

Taj Gibson - He'll be fine even with Luol Deng back in the lineup.

Dion Waiters - He would pick up some minutes with Kyrie out. That would make Waiters a nice pickup, despite his game not really translating to fantasy.

Mike Scott - He's not a standard-league add yet, but he's getting minutes all over the court. Scott had eight points, seven boards, one assist and one block in 28 minutes.

Kelly Olynyk - Jared Sullinger suffered a wrist injury and had his wrist wrapped up at the end of Tuesday's game. KO is worth a look after a career-high 21 points.

Luke Ridnour - He's an interesting pickup if you really need a point guard. Ridnour played 35 minutes in a start with 11 points, four boards, three assists, one steal and one 3-pointer.

Draymond Green - I'm diggin' Green big time in deep leagues. He can play three different spots and the Warriors D holds together nicely when he's on the court. DG had six points, nine boards, two steals and four blocks in 22 minutes.

Pero Antic - He played 25 minutes with five points, five boards and one 3-pointer. Antic is worth a look in deep leagues.

Kendall Marshall - If you want short-term help, bump up Marshall six spots. Plus, he would get a solid bump should Farmar's hamstring evaluation go poorly on Wednesday.

Mason Plumlee - He showed what he can do with 38 minutes of action, scoring 15 points with 13 boards, one steal and two blocks. If KG misses time, he'd be worth a look in standards.

Kris Humphries - He played well off the bench with 18 points and 10 boards. I'm not totally convinced Sully is going to miss time. He's a tough dude.

John Salmons - He played 31 minutes and seems locked in as a key rotation guy. He'll have a low upside, though.

Marcus Thornton - We have to see it again. Thornton had 15 points and three 3-pointers in 20 minutes.

Ryan Kelly - It would not be a shock to see D'Antoni play Kelly more.

Derek Fisher - Yuck.
