DT: Goalie Games

Goaltenders and injured players will be a common theme on Drop Trends as we get closer to the end of the season. Fantasy GMs want to squeeze in more starts and cut loose any injury that may cost them a playoff spot.

Antti Raanta (G - NYR)

Dropped: 1,399 times

Why? Henrik Lundqvist is back from injury and slated to start Sunday.

Recommendation: Raanta could see a handful of starts in New York's remaining games this season, but with Lundqvist back in the fold your attention should be focused elsewhere if you are looking for someone who will see regular playing time. Most people were probably using him as a replacement for Lundqvist anyway, so it was time to cut him loose.

Joonas Korpisalo (G - CBJ)

Dropped: 1,138

Why? He has been assigned to the minors.

Recommendation: It's a bit surprising that so many people still had him on their rosters after he was sent down on Wednesday. Sergei Bobrovsky has returned from his latest groin issue and is poised to see the majority of the action for the rest of the year. Korpisalo is better off getting his playing time in the AHL than being relegated to the bench as a backup.

Jason Demers (D - DAL)

Dropped: 1,063 times

Why? He is out for at least six weeks because of a shoulder injury.

Recommendation: Demers won't play again this season and his status for the playoffs is uncertain. If you have him in single season formats then letting him go was the right move to make.

Michal Neuvirth (G - PHI)

Dropped: 997 times

Why? He hasn't started a game since Mar. 3 against Edmonton.

Recommendation: Neuvirth was slated to play on Saturday, but he missed the game because of a stomach virus. Steve Mason has started the last four contests and he has won three of them. It's reasonable to believe that he will see playing time in back-to-back situations and is worth rostering given how well he has played this campaign.

Joni Ortio (G - CGY)

Dropped: 897 times

Why? He has just two wins in 13 games this season.

Recommendation: Ortio has played fairly well this month. He has allowed two goals in four of his five appearances and he has a .915 save percentage. He also has posted both victories in his last four outings. Unfortunately, he has a lot of work to do to turn around his 2.94 goals-against average and .898 save percentage. Ortio should only be targeted if you are desperate for goaltending, but he isn't a safe bet.
