DT: Jokinen can contribute

A week ago, I expressed some concern over people letting go of Ryan Kesler a little too early and he produced a goal and three assists against Calgary this past Wednesday. Some leagues have already wrapped up for the year, but there is still one week left in the 2015-16 regular season. Let's look at the most dropped players from Saturday.

Jussi Jokinen (FLA - C, LW, RW)

Dropped: 1,339 times

Why? He went pointless in three games this week.

Recommendation: Jokinen had a minus-2 rating and seven shots during his scoring skid. He has gone more than four games without picking up a point just one time this season. If he's available I would pick him up. The Panthers play four matches this coming week and I don't expect his slump to hit four straight contests.

Petr Mrazek (DET - G)

Dropped: 1,127 times

Why? He struggled mightily in March and Detroit has turned to Jimmy Howard in the last two games.

Recommendation: Mrazek has an .884 save percentage and three wins in his past 10 appearances. Detroit plays three games in four nights to end the regular season and It wouldn't be surprising if Howard played two of the them. If it's a one-year league and there are other options in goal then I see why you would reluctantly let go of Mrazek, but I would keep him until we see what the Red Wings have planned.

Kyle Palmieri (NJD - LW, RW)

Dropped: 1,089 times

Why? He hasn't scored a goal in five straight games.

Recommendation: Palmieri has a minus-3 rating in the last three games, but he has two assists and 18 shots during his five-game goal slump. I don't agree with the decision to let him go unless you are in a shallow league and there were plenty of players available on waivers. I think he finishes the regular season with some more points and a goal.

Alec Martinez (LAK - D)

Dropped: 931 times

Why? He has one goal and a minus-5 rating in the past six matches.

Recommendation: Martinez has had a surprising solid season in 2015-16 with 10 goals and 31 points in 78 games. Defense isn't typically a position you can fill easily on waivers, but better options are out there.

Reilly Smith (FLA - LW,RW)

Dropped: 930 times

Why? He hasn't earned a point in four consecutive contests.

Recommendation: The loss of Vincent Trocheck for the rest of the season probably played a role in both of his linemates ending up on this list as well. Still, they have the ability to shake free of their droughts and Nick Bjugstad is more than capable replacement. I'm a bit more worried about Smith than Jokinen because Smith hasn't been as consistent and he hasn't been recording many shots lately. I don't mind the decision to let him go.
