Eeli Tolvanen watch begins

American Hockey League


Rockford netminder and Chicago Blackhawks prospect Collin Delia was the AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Mar. 4 after posted a pair of wins with a 0.50 goals-against average, a .986 save percentage and his first shutout as a pro. The 23-year-old has a 2.78 goals-against average and .901 save percentage in 19 AHL appearances this season. Stockton’s Andrew Mangiapane earned a goal and an assist in each of his two outings last week. The sixth-round pick of the Calgary Flames in the 2015 NHL Draft has 21 goals and 46 points in 39 matches this season at the minor-league level. He doesn’t have a point in 10 outings with Calgary this season. Valentin Zykov netted three goals in three games. The 22-year-old has 28 goals and 44 points in 55 contests for Carolina’s AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, in 2017-18. Winnipeg Jets prospect Sami Niku leads all AHL defensemen with 42 points (12 goals, 30 assists) in 59 games. The 21-year-old rookie contributed one goal and two helpers in two outings last week. Niku was a seventh-round selection of the Jets in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.


National Collegiate Athletic Association


Michigan senior Tony Calderone tallied four goals and added two assists in a pair of wins over Wisconsin last weekend. He potted all four goals in one contest to give him 23 markers on the season. The 23-year-old captain of the Wolverines has a personal best 39 points through 36 games this campaign. Northern Michigan University’s Troy Loggins notched four goals and three helpers in three games against Alabama-Huntsville. He finished the three-game set with a four-point performance. The 22-year-old forward has 44 points (21 goals, 23 assists) in 39 matches this season. Princeton’s Ryan Kuffner amassed seven points in two victories versus Brown on three goals and four assists. The 21-year-old winger has 28 goals and 48 points through 31 games. Florida Panthers prospect Henrik Borgstrom picked up one goal and two assists in two games last week. The 20-year-old has 19 markers and 44 points in 33 games for the University of Denver in 2017-18. Borgstrom was chosen with the 23rd overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft.


Kontinental Hockey League


The 2018 Gagarin Cup playoffs is underway. Vegas prospect Nikita Gusev had three goals and three assists in a first-round sweep of Severstal. The 25-year-old forward produced 22 goals and 62 points in 54 matches for SKA St. Petersburg during the regular season. Eeli Tolvanen has three goals in four games to place Jokerit up 3-1 in their first-round series against Sochi. The 30th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft will reportedly join the Nashville Predators once his KHL season is over. The 18-year-old had 19 goals and 36 points in 49 contests during the regular season. CSKA Moskva’s Kirill Kaprizov has three helpers in four games. His squad swept Spartak in the opening round. The Minnesota Wild draft pick in 2015 (135th overall) posted 15 goals and 40 points in 46 matches during the regular season. CSKA netminder Ilya Sorokin posted three shutouts in Round 1 with a sparklingly .988 save percentage and 0.25 goals-against average. He turned aside 81 of the 82 shots he faced in four wins. The 22-year-old goalie was taken in the third round (78th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders.
