American Hockey League

Seth Griffith was held off the scoresheet on Sunday, bringing his point streak to an end at five games.  He's been phenomenal over the month of January with 14 points in 10 contests, but that's merely an extension of the great season he's having.  The 23-year-old forward has 13 goals and 41 points in 34 contests with the Providence Bruins.  His teammate, goalie Malcolm Subban, has won six of his seven starts this month.  He has a 13-8-4 record, 2.50 GAA, and .912 save percentage in 25 contests this season.  Magnus Hellberg is on a seven-game winning streak and has allowed two or fewer goals in five straight contests.  He has a 2.48 GAA and .915 save percentage in 27 contests with the Hartford Wolf Pack.  Marek Mazanec has posted a shutout in two of his last three starts.  The Milwaukee Admirals goalie now has a 2.33 GAA and .920 save percentage in 22 games in 2015-16.

National Collegiate Athletic Association

Ahti Oksanen had two goals and six points in two games with Boston University last weekend.  He's played in 24 contests this season and has 13 goals and 27 points.  Joey Benik was the top star of the week with two goals and seven points in two contests.  The 24-year-old forward has 15 goals and 29 points in 26 contests with St. Cloud State.  Bentley University's Andrew Gladiuk had a big weekend too with a hat trick and two helpers on Friday before adding another goal and an assist on Saturday.  He has 11 goals and 16 assists in 25 contests in 2015-16.

Europe

Let's focus this week on the Finnish league and we can start with their leading scorer among players that are under-24, Jarno Karki.  He's just 21 years old and playing in his second campaign in the SM-liiga.  He had 20 points in 57 contests as a rookie, but this season he's scored 13 goals and 28 points in 41 games  with Assat Pori.  Defenseman Ryan O'Connor, 24, is having a big season with KooKoo Kouvola.  The Hamilton, Ontario-native played in the OHL through 2012-13, but he moved to Europe after that.  He had brief stints in the Swiss League and KHL, but seems to have settled into the Finnish league nicely with nine goals and 24 points in 44 contests. Sebastian Aho has 12 goals and 26 points in 32 contests with Karpat in 2015-16.  The 18-year-old forward was taken by the Carolina Hurricanes with the 35th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.  His Karpat teammate, Miro Aaltonen, was also drafted, though in his case he went in the sixth round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft to Anaheim.  Aaltonen, 22, has 13 goals and 27 points in 44 games this season.
