Hershey netminder Vitek Vanecek received the AHL Player of the Week honor for the period ending Oct. 21. The 22-year-old went 2-0-1 with a 1.62 goals-against average and .949 save percentage. He faced a total of 99 shots and he stopped 94 pucks during his three road appearances. Vanecek was taken in the second round (39th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft by the Washington Capitals. Texas Stars rookie Joel L'Esperance potted three goals and added two assists in three outings to stretch his point streak to four straight matches. He has five goals and eight points through seven games this season. The 23-year-old played four seasons with Michigan Tech prior to joining the Dallas Stars organization. Carl Grundstrom of the Toronto Marlies generated two goals and two helpers in two outings last week. He has accumulated seven points (three goals, four assists) in six matches this year. Grundstrom was a second-round selection (57th overall) of the Maple Leafs in the 2016 NHL Draft. Henrik Borgstrom, who most pundits believed would start 2018-19 with the Florida Panthers, has seven points in five games for Springfield of the AHL. The bulk of his production came during his minor-league debut when he posted one goal and three assists.

Scott Perunovich picked up one goal and five helpers in two wins over Maine last week. The 20-year-old blueliner is tied for first in the NCAA with 10 points (one goal, nine assists) after six games. Perunovich was chosen with the 45th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the St. Louis Blues. Minnesota State senior Max Coatta tallied four goals, including a hat trick, and added an assist in two matches against North Dakota. The 24-year-old winger has six points through four outings. Bobby Nardella produced two goals and six points in two matches versus Omaha last week. The 22-year-old defenseman has 10 points in just four games for Notre Dame during his senior campaign. Cale Makar generated one goal and three assists in two contests against Ohio State. The 19-year-old rearguard was a first-round selection (14th overall) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft of the Colorado Avalanche.
There aren’t many drafted NHL prospects active in the Swiss League. Damien Riat of EHC Biel-Bienne is worth highlighting. He has four goals and four assists in 13 games this season. The 21-year-old forward was chosen in the fourth round (117th overall) of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft by the Washington Capitals. Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Tim Berni has two assists in 11 games for the ZSC Lions. The 18-year-old blueliner was a sixth rounder (159th overall) in the 2018 NHL Draft. Gilles Senn has played in two games for HC Davos, while posting a 3.54 goals-against average and .910 save percentage. He was taken in the fifth round (129th overall) of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils.
