Max Pacioretty has been doing more than scoring goals lately. In addition to being hot in that regard, he’s also dished out 19 hits over his last four games. He’s up to 92 hits in 48 contests this season. Sean Kuraly has been credited with at least three hits in each of his last four games. That gives the rookie 96 hits in 46 contests. Jamie Oleksiak has gotten 16 hits in his last two games alone. He has 54 hits in 15 contests since being acquired by Pittsburgh from Dallas on Dec. 19. Nick Ritchie has registered 19 hits over his last three games. He has 138 hits in 43 contests, which is good for ninth place in the NHL.
Alec Martinez got in front of eight shots in the Kings’ 6-2 loss to Vancouver on Tuesday. He has 132 blocked shots in 45 games, which puts him in second place in the NHL. Alex Goligoski has blocked at least three shots in each of his last three games. That gives him 81 blocks in 49 contests in 2017-18. Karl Alzner has 10 blocks in his last three contests. Overall, he has 91 blocks in 48 games after finishing 2016-17 with 162 blocks in 82 contests. Marc-Edouard Vlasic got in front of six shots on Jan. 20 and another eight shots on Jan. 21. At this point he has 96 blocks in 46 contests this season.
Patrice Bergeron has won more than 60% of his draws for three consecutive games. He has a 57.7% success rate on the draw in 41 games this season. Claude Giroux has won 40-of-59 draws (67.8%) over his last five contests. He’s up to 58.2% in 2017-18 compared to his career average of 54.5%. Travis Zajac has claimed 42-of-70 faceoffs (60%) in his last five games. That’s pushed his season average up to 52.7% in 30 contests. Nazem Kadri has won over half of his draws for five consecutive games. He’s up to 50.7% on the draw in 47 games this season. If he maintains that, this would be his first season as a net positive when it comes to faceoffs.
