Western Hockey League

The Kelowna Rockets have made it through two rounds with just one loss and goaltender Jordon Cooke has played a significant role in that.  He has a 2.34 GAA and .929 save percentage in nine playoff contests.  The Edmonton Oil Kings have also been dominant with Tristan Jarry between the pipes.  The Pittsburgh Penguins prospect has a 1.88 GAA and .931 save percentage in eight contests.  Sam Reinhart leads the scoring race with five goals and 19 points in nine games with the Kootenay Ice.  His teammate, Jaedon Descheneau, isn’t far behind with seven goals and 10 assists in nine contests.  Both players are eligible for the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, but Reinhart figures to be taken significantly higher after NHL Central Scouting ranked him third among North American skaters.

Ontario Hockey League

Dane Fox was selected as the OHL’s Overage Player of the Year award after the undrafted forward had 64 goals, 107 points, and 122 penalty minutes in 67 games with the Erie Otters.  He has another seven goals and 16 points in nine playoff contests.  Only Chris Tierney is ahead of him in the playoff scoring race with 17 points in seven contests with the London Knights.  Tierney was taken in the second round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the San Jose Sharks.  His Knights teammate, Bo Horvat, opened the postseason with a seven-game scoring streak and has 11 points over that span.  He’s the man the Vancouver Canucks took with the 2013 ninth overall draft pick they got from the New Jersey Devils in the Cory Schneider deal.  Daniel Altshuller has a 7-0 record in the playoffs thanks to his 1.38 GAA and .940 save percentage.  He was selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the third round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Quebec Major Junior Hockey League

After breaking out this season, defenseman Guillaume Gelinas has carried that momentum into the playoffs by scoring three goals and 11 points in eight games with Val-d’Or.  His team is in a 2-2 series tie with Drummondville in the second round.  As good as Jonathan Drouin was in the regular season, he’s been better in the playoffs. Halifax has won seven of its first eight postseason games, in large part because Drouin has scored eight goals and registered 16 assists.  Teammate Zachary Fucale has been a big contribute for Halifax as well.  The Montreal Canadiens prospect has a 1.83 GAA and .923 save percentage in eight postseason games.  Philippe Cadorette hasn’t allowed more than two goals in a 2014 playoff game so far.  The 19-year-old goaltender now has 1.38 GAA and .946 save percentage in eight contests.

American Hockey League

The AHL All-Rookie team has been announced and Joni Ortio was selected as the team’s goaltender.  He has a 2.37 GAA and .924 save percentage in 34 games with the Abbotsford Heat.  He also had a 2.51 GAA and .891 save percentage in nine contests with the Calgary Flames.  Brenden Kichton and Ryan Sproul are the two defensemen on the list.  Kichton had 10 goals and 45 points in 72 games with the St. John’s IceCaps after being taken in the seventh round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft by the Winnipeg Jets.  Sproul had 31 points and 49 penalty minutes in 70 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins.  Curtis McKenzie, Teemu Pulkkinen, and Ryan Strome are the All-Rookie team’s forwards.  McKenzie made the transition from the NCAA to AHL this season, scoring 22 goals and 60 points in 70 matches with the Texas Stars.  On the other hand, Pulkkinen come over from Finland and scored 30 goals and 25 assists in 67 games with the Griffins.  Strome scored 13 goals and 49 points in just 37 games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.  He’s also netted five goals and registered 11 assists in 34 contests with the New York Islanders.
