American Hockey League

Jacob Markstrom was the AHL Player of the Week after he stopped all 56 shots he faced in a pair of victories for the Utica Comets.  He has registered three straight shutouts and he's turned aside 108 of 109 shots to open the 2014-15 campaign.  Markstrom has a 4-0-0 record with a 0.25 goals-against average and a .991 save percentage.  He is less than two periods shy of the AHL's all-time shutout record.  Travis Morin, who as the AHL and Calder Cup Playoff MVP last year, has five goals and 12 points in six games this season.  He produced four goals, including a hat trick on Saturday versus Oklahoma City, and two assists in two contests last week.  Worcester forward Freddie Hamilton tallied a three-goal game as well last week in a 4-1 win over Portland.  He scored a natural hat trick in a span of 5:12 during the third period to break the game open for the Sharks.  Rochester's Johan Larsson tallied two goals and two assists in three matches.  He has eight points in seven games this year.  Michael Ferland of the Adirondack Flames posted one goal and four helpers in three tilts this past week.  He leads his team in scoring with nine points in nine games.

National Collegiate Athletic Association

Canadiens prospect Mark MacMillan is out indefinitely following wrist surgery.  He was cut by a skate in Friday's win over Providence.  The fourth-round pick in the 2010 draft has five goals and seven points in five games.  Zach Hyman accounted for three goals and two assists in the University of Michigan's 8-4 win against UMass-Lowell, but he was held off the scoresheet in a 3-2 loss to Boston University.  Hyman, who was a fifth-round selection of the Florida Panthers in 2010, has seven points in five games.  Boston College forward and Minnesota Wild draft pick Alex Tuch had one goal and three assists in a pair of victories over the weekend.  The 18th overall pick has five points in four outings.  His teammate, and another Minnesota pick, Adam Gilmour produced two goals and five points last week after he was held scoreless in his previous two matches.  He was chosen in the fourth round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.  Boston University's Jack Eichel picked up a goal and an assist in two games to give him six points in three contests.  He's expected to be a top-two pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

Europe

Columbus Blue Jackets six rounder Daniel Zaar has eight assists and 11 points in 17 SHL games with Lulea.  However, he has cooled down of late.  Toronto prospect William Nylander has been lighting up the SHL with Modo.  He compiled five points, including four assists, in three matches last week.  He has nine points in seven games.
