Yankees placed C Jose Trevino on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 18, due to a right wrist tear.
That doesn’t sound good. Gerrit Cole will miss Trevino, but the lineup should fare a little better with him out of the mix. The 30-year-old was hitting just .210/.257/.312 with 15 RBI in 168 PA this season. Ben Rortvedt and Kyle Higashioka will share time behind the plate, and the Yankees might see if they can catch lightning in a bottle with Rortvedt, who was hitting quite well in Triple-A.
