  • CWS Catcher #33
White Sox placed C Max Stassi on the 10-day injured list with left hip inflammation and recalled C Korey Lee from Triple-A Charlotte.
Stassi had a down year offensively with the Angels in 2022, hitting just .180/.267/.303 with nine homers and 30 RBI in 375 plate appearances and missed all of last season while tending to medical issues involving his newborn son. He was traded to the Braves and then from the Braves to the White Sox and looked to be on the verge of competing for a starting job before the hip injury. It now appears the White Sox will split at-bats between two former Astros catchers in Korey Lee and Martin Maldonado; however, Stassi is eligible to be reinstated from the injured list on April 4.
  • LAA Center Fielder #16
Mickey Moniak (hand) is not in the lineup Wednesday against the White Sox.
Moniak has a hand contusion and hasn’t been able to play since leaving with the injury Sunday. He’ll continue to recover while Jordyn Adams gets the start in center field.
  • LAA Second Baseman #38
Michael Stefanic (calf) is hitting eighth and playing second base against the White Sox on Wednesday.
Stefanic missed a few days while dealing with a calf injury, but is feeling well enough to play in the series finale against Chicago.
  • SF Third Baseman #10
Giants recalled Casey Schmitt from Triple-A Sacramento.
Schmitt is up to take the roster spot of Matt Chapman, with Chapman placed on the paternity list in the corresponding move. Schmitt will likely only be with the team for three days.
  • SF Third Baseman #26
Giants placed INF Matt Chapman on the paternity list.
Chapman is enjoying a fantastic September, and now gets to celebrate a little one joining his family. Casey Schmitt has been recalled to replace Chapman, who will be out for up to three days.
  • LAA Catcher #14
Logan O’Hoppe is not in the lineup for Wednesday’s bout against the White Sox.
O’Hoppe will get a day off for the series finale against the Angels. Zach Neto will also be out Wednesday, so it’ll be Matt Thaiss starting behind the plate and Jack Lopez at shortstop.
  • CWS Center Fielder #88
Luis Robert Jr. is not in the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Angels.
Lou Bob will get a day off against the A’s in the matinee. Zach DeLoach will get the start in center and hit second against Jack Kochanowicz and the Angles on Wednesday.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #19
Hayden Wesneski (forearm) is expected back in the coming days.
Wesneski is currently with the Cubs, but not expected to be activated Wednesday. The right-hander threw two innings in a rehab appearance for Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, and once back, he’ll likely be a multi-inning option for the Chicago bullpen for the rest of 2024.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #36
Katie Woo of The Athletic reports that Michael McGreevy will be recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday.
McGreevy was scratched from his start Tuesday for Memphis, and for good reason. The right-hander will be up as a multi-inning bullpen option for St. Louis, but could make a start before the season comes to a close.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #48
Cubs optioned RHP Daniel Palencia to Triple-A Iowa
Palencia was only up with the Cubs for a little over 24 hours. He’s sent down with Justin Steele (elbow) returning to make a start against Oakland on Wednesday.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #47
Cubs optioned RHP Jack Neely to Triple-A Iowa.
Neely is down to make room for Jorge López with López coming off the injured list from his groin strain. Neely has long-term upside, and should be a part of the Chicago bullpen in 2025.
