  • SF Center Fielder #51
An MRI revealed structural damage in Jung Hoo Lee’s left shoulder.
It’s not good. Lee is facing an extended absence after dislocating his left shoulder over the weekend when he collided with the center-field wall at Oracle Park. The 25-year-old outfielder will visit Dr. Neil ElAttrache later this week for a second opinion to determine whether he’ll require surgery, which would most likely be season-ending. There should be an additional update on his status in the coming days.
  • PIT Shortstop #15
Oneil Cruz is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Cubs.
It’s a routine off day for Cruz with lefty Shota Imanaga toeing the rubber for Chicago. The 25-year-old shortstop has hit a small rough patch of late, hitting .207 (6-for-29) over his last seven contests. He does have two homers and one steal during that stretch, but has also struck out eight times with only one walk as well.
  • MIN Center Fielder #25
Twins activated OF Byron Buxton from the 10-day injured list.
Buxton returns to Minnesota’s lineup for Saturday’s showdown against the division-rival Guardians following a two-week absence due to right knee inflammation. The 30-year-old center fielder has managed to avoid serious injury so far, but has gotten off to an icy start at the plate, batting .250/.300/.391 with one homer and one steal in 100 plate appearances over 28 contests.
  • MIN Second Baseman #82
Twins optioned INF/OF Austin Martin to Triple-A St. Paul.
Martin was back up for a couple weeks as Byron Buxton’s replacement on Minnesota’s active roster, but will head back with the veteran center fielder set to return fro Saturday’s game in Cleveland. The 25-year-old rookie has batted .224/.289/.355 with one homer and four steals in 83 plate appearances over 30 contests this season at the highest level.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #45
Yankees pitching coach Matt Blake told reporters Saturday that Gerrit Cole (elbow) may progress to facing hitters next week.
Blake added that Cole was throwing in the low 90’s during Saturday’s bullpen session, elaborating that he’s a notch ahead of a typical spring training progression, but remains several weeks from returning. The 33-year-old reigning AL Cy Young Award winner isn’t expected back until sometime in mid-June.
  • TB Relief Pitcher #49
Rays acquired LHP Richard Lovelady from the Cubs for LHP Jeff Belge.
Lovelady heads to Tampa Bay in a small trade just a few days after being jettisoned from Chicago’s 40-man roster. The 28-year-old southpaw made seven relief appearances this season for the Cubs and figures to pitch in middle relief for Tampa Bay.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher
Cubs acquired LHP Jeff Belge from the Rays for LHP Richard Lovelady.
Belge was acquired from the Dodgers in the J.P. Feyereisen trade back in 2022 and has yet to advance past Double-A. The 26-year-old southpaw is merely extra organizational depth at this stage of his development.
  • TB Relief Pitcher #40
Rays transferred RHP Jacob Waguespack to the 60-day injured list.
The procedural move opens up a spot on Tampa Bay’s 40-man roster for newly-acquired lefty Richard Lovelady. Waguespack hit the injured list earlier this month with a right shoulder strain.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #30
Orioles activated RHP Grayson Rodriguez from the 15-day injured list.
Rodriguez will take the ball on Saturday against the Mariners at Camden Yards following a nearly three-week stint on the injured list due to right shoulder inflammation. The 24-year-old burgeoning fantasy ace might have some workload limitations right out of the gate, but it’s a nice matchup for fantasy purposes against a Seattle lineup that has scored the fifth-fewest runs in baseball so far.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #53
Orioles designated RHP Mike Baumann for assignment.
Baumann figures to draw some interest on waivers after pitching to a respectable 3.44 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 16/9 K/BB ratio across 18 1/3 innings (17 appearances) this season out of Baltimore’s bullpen. The 28-year-old former prospect has made 94 appearances (four starts) in the majors since 2021.
  • CHC Second Baseman #2
Nico Hoerner (hamstring) remains absent from the lineup for Saturday’s showdown against the Pirates.
There’s been zero indication that Hoerner will wind up requiring a trip to the injured list, but he’s out of Chicago’s lineup for the fifth straight game on Saturday afternoon due to ongoing left hamstring tightness. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day, but there’s a possibility the Cubs will have to send him to the injured list if he’s unable to return this weekend.
