  • TB Starting Pitcher #59
Jeffrey Springs allowed three runs — two earned — over four innings in a rehab start for Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.
Springs has a 3.12 ERA and a 21/6 K/BB ratio in 17 1/3 innings over his six starts for Durham. He averaged 90.4 mph with his fastball last night, down from 91.7 mph in his three starts before he blew out his elbow in 2023. Obviously, it’d be nice if the velocity were all the way back, but he might be able to get major league hitters out as is. First, he’s due at least one more rehab start.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #73
Marlins recalled RHP Kyle Tyler from Triple-A Jacksonville.
Tyler will get the ball Tuesday against the Orioles in a very bad matchup for him and the majority of pitchers. He has pitched well with a 3.38 ERA in three starts and one relief outing, but it’d be a tremendous mistake in process to give him a chance against Baltimore.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #26
Marlins designated RHP Yonny Chirinos for assignment.
Chirinos gave up five runs in five innings of work Monday against the Mets, and the right-hander has a 6.30 ERA and 1.87 WHIP over his 30 innings with Miami. He’ll now hit the waiver wire, and a team in need of innings could consider adding him via claim or trade. Kyle Tyler was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville to start Tuesday’s contest against Baltimore.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #65
Reds optioned RHP Casey Legumina to Triple-A Louisville.
Legumina will head back to the minors for now with the Reds choosing to add Lyon Richardson to the bullpen in the corresponding transaction. It’d be surprising if Legumina wasn’t back up with Cincinnati before the summer ends.
  • WAS Relief Pitcher #62
Nationals optioned RHP Eduardo Salazar to Triple-A Rochester.
Salazar will head back to Triple-A with the Nationals recalling DJ Herz for a start Tuesday against the Padres. The right-hander will be an up-and-down arm for the Nats for the remainder of 2024.
  • WAS Starting Pitcher #74
Nationals recalled LHP DJ Herz from Triple-A Rochester.
Herz will make the start Tuesday against the Padres. The left-hander has registered a 5.17 ERA in his seven starts in 2024 and has dealt with significant command issues, but they do come with the ability to miss bats. A very high-risk, decent-reward option. Eduardo Salazar was optioned to Triple-A in the corresponding transaction.
  • NYM Center Fielder #41
Mets signed OF Jackie Bradley Jr. to a minor-league contract.
Bradley Jr. was last with the Long Island Ducks of the Independent League, and he registered a 1.204 OPS in his time with the club. The 34-year-old played 43 games last year with the Royals. He’s still a strong defensive player, but he’s unlikely to hit enough to provide fantasy value even if he earned the playing time.
  • TB Relief Pitcher #53
Rays optioned RHP Tyler Zuber to Triple-A Durham.
Zuber was recalled Sunday and allowed one run in 1 1/3 innings of work in his lone appearance with the team. He’ll head back to Durham with Tyler Alexander recalled in the corresponding transaction.
  • TB Starting Pitcher #14
Rays recalled LHP Tyler Alexander from Triple-A Norfolk.
Alexander will be a multi-inning bullpen arm for the Rays while he’s with the club. Tyler Zuber was optioned to Triple-A in the corresponding transaction.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #45
Tigers manager AJ Hinch told reporters Tuesday that Reese Olson’s shoulder injury is not considered serious.
Olson was placed on the injured list Sunday with a right shoulder strain, but Hinch told MLB Network radio that testing revealed the injury to be “mild.” The 24-year-old remains without a timeline, but it sounds like Olson has a good chance to return at some point this summer.
  • ATL Third Baseman #65
Braves recalled INF Luke Williams from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Williams will take the place of Austin Riley on the active roster with Williams heading to the paternity list. He’s hit .220/.280/.287 in his 275 MLB plate appearances.
