Skenes wasn’t perfect in this one as the Dodgers got to him for a pair of early run-scoring hits from Gavin Lux before veteran Teoscar Hernández connected for a fifth-inning solo shot to cap off the scoring. The positive news here for fantasy managers is that the strikeouts were still there for the electrifying 22-year-old fantasy ace as he’s notched at least eight punchouts in 10 of his 15 starts since arriving in the big leagues. He’ll carry a magnificent 2.25 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 115/20 K/BB ratio across 92 innings (15 starts) into a home outing on Friday against the Mariners. The last remaining question for fantasy purposes is how long he’ll be able to continue pitching at an elite level because he’s answered everything else so far.

Moncada, out since April with an adductor strain, has appeared in eight games for Charlotte, five of them at third base, and gone 9-for-26 with a homer and three doubles. Still, there doesn’t really seem to be much desire on either side to have him back in the White Sox lineup in advance of the inevitable divorce this offseason.

There was hope yesterday that he’d be back tonight, but it wasn’t to be. Chris Taylor is playing left field against the Cubs.

Santana is leading off tonight against the Angels. It’s the third time in the last five games that he’s done so against a left-hander. Before that, he hadn’t led off in a game since 2018.

Blackburn apparently intended to pitch through the soreness until that happened. He was expected to return from a right hand contusion to start tonight against the Blue Jays, but he’s going to remain on the IL for now. Tylor Megill is starting in his place.

Realmuto was hopeful of playing during the current three-game series against the Rays, but he’s still dealing with fluid in his knee. Garrett Stubbs is starting in his place tonight.

Allard seemed to be the likely choice with both Tyler Phillips and Seth Johnson flopping in their auditions. Allard has a 3.50 ERA in three starts and one relief appearance for the Phillies this season. He could finish out the year in the rotation.

The Orioles would prefer to time Holliday’s off days against lefties, but they’re in the midst of a long string of games against righties at the moment. Liván Soto is getting the start at second. He’s served two stints with the Orioles, but it only now about to get his first at-bat with the team.

The Mets are facing a right-handed opener in Ryan Burr tonight, but they’re expecting to see a lot of Ryan Yarbrough afterwards and thus are using the kind of lineup they’d typically use versus a lefty. As a resume, Winker is out, and Mark Vientos and Brandon Nimmo have been flipped in the second and third spots in the order. Harrison Bader is starting in Winker’s absence.

Friedl was given Sunday off after the scary incident, though he was already feeling back to normal. He’s hitting cleanup tonight.

The Athletic’s Dan Hayes said Correa was so excited about his progress that he approached reporters to provide the update. Correa is going to need to some at-bats after missing two months with plantar fasciitis, but it seems like he might finally be over the hump.
