  • LAD Relief Pitcher #45
Michael Kopech fired 1 1/3 scoreless innings on Saturday against the Pirates.
Kopech has looked re-energized since arriving in Los Angeles at last month’s trade deadline, reeling off five consecutive scoreless appearances in his Dodgers debut. He’s struck out eight batters and allowed just one baserunner over 5 1/3 nearly-flawless frames so far. The 28-year-old righty is probably in the mix for high-leverage opportunities with the Dodgers until further notice.
  • BAL Second Baseman #7
Jackson Holliday, who is 1-for-14 in his last five games, is out of the Orioles lineup for Monday’s game against the Red Sox.
The Orioles would prefer to time Holliday’s off days against lefties, but they’re in the midst of a long string of games against righties at the moment. Liván Soto is getting the start at second. He’s served two stints with the Orioles, but it only now about to get his first at-bat with the team.
  • NYM Left Fielder #3
Jesse Winker is out of the Mets lineup for Monday’s game against the Blue Jays.
The Mets are facing a right-handed opener in Ryan Burr tonight, but they’re expecting to see a lot of Ryan Yarbrough afterwards and thus are using the kind of lineup they’d typically use versus a lefty. As a resume, Winker is out, and Mark Vientos and Brandon Nimmo have been flipped in the second and third spots in the order. Harrison Bader is starting in Winker’s absence.
  • CIN Left Fielder #29
TJ Friedl is back in center field on Monday after leaving Saturday’s game with a shortness of breath.
Friedl was given Sunday off after the scary incident, though he was already feeling back to normal. He’s hitting cleanup tonight.
  • MIN Shortstop #4
Despite sprinting three of the last four days, a “very encouraged” Carlos Correa indicated that his foot is feeling better than it has in quite some time.
The Athletic’s Dan Hayes said Correa was so excited about his progress that he approached reporters to provide the update. Correa is going to need to some at-bats after missing two months with plantar fasciitis, but it seems like he might finally be over the hump.
  • NYM Second Baseman #67
Mets selected the contract of INF/OF Eddy Alvarez from Triple-A Syracuse
The 34-year-old Alvarez, acquired from the Red Sox earlier today, is joining the major league team after all, though it’ll likely be in a bit role. It’ll be the utilityman’s first major league action since 2022. He’s hit .183/.262/.262 in 142 career major league plate appearances.
  • NYM Shortstop #26
Mets designated INF Pablo Reyes for assignment.
Reyes, a Sept. 1 callup, got into just one game in eight days with the Mets and didn’t receive an at-bat.
  • SEA Third Baseman #35
Mariners designated 1B Jason Vosler for assignment.
The move makes room for Austin Kitchen on the 40-man. Vosler has been excellent in Triple-A this year, hitting .299/.368/.566 with 28 homers in 111 games. It might make sense for the Royals to put in a claim and give themselves another first base option with Vinnie Pasquantonio out.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher #91
Mariners claimed LHP Austin Kitchen off waivers from the Marlins.
The 27-year-old Kitchen had a 14.14 ERA and a 4/3 K/BB in seven innings for the Marlins. He throws strikes and gets grounders, so there’s some potential usefulness here as a middle reliever. He also has all of his option years, which teams just love.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #54
Angels selected the contract of LHP José Suarez from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Suarez returns to the majors after posting a 6.54 ERA for Triple-A Salt Lake. He did have a fine 62/17 K/BB in 52 1/3 innings, and there’s a good reason why the Angels like to promote their pitching prospects straight from Double-A. Suarez will apparently be available out of the pen tonight. The Angels already have a six-man rotation, and there’s no word yet of anyone being scratched.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #52
Angels optioned RHP Hans Crouse to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Crouse was just called up yesterday, but since he threw 27 pitches then, he’s getting swapped out for a fresh arm. He has a 2.84 ERA in 25 1/3 innings for the Angels this season.
