Bello went toe-to-toe with Chris Bassitt in this good old fashioned pitchers’ duel and turned in the best start of his young career. This was the first time he’d ever completed eight innings and they felt so easy he probably could have gone the distance. He featured his slider and had pinpoint command of it, especially on the back-foot of Toronto’s left-handed batters. It felt like he was ahead of every batter and only faced two three-ball counts all game. All in all, completely fantastic. He’ll face the Mets in Queens and White Sox at home next week in an enticing two-step.

Grisham returned from knee discomfort and had three hits against the Rays on Friday. He was on base three times again Sunday. Grisham drew a walk before Aaron Judge’s walk-off home run Sunday, but was replaced for a pinch runner so he didn’t score a run. Grisham still has a .321 on-base percentage despite just a .196 average this year.

Melton, returning from an elbow strain, will start Game 2 of today’s doubleheader against the Orioles.

Seabold loses his spot to Troy Melton. He had a 3.45 ERA and a 14/5 K/BB in 15 2/3 innings for the Tigers, so even though he’s 30 and lacks much in the way of upside, it seems unlikely that he’ll make it through waivers.

Norby was hit by a Christian Scott pitch, and even though it went off his elbow guard, he was still feeling it enough that he left two innings later. Graham Pauley replaced him.

Rasmussen gave up five hits, walked one and struck out six. Despite throwing seven scoreless innings, Rasmussen received no run support as the Rays lost 2-0. He’s struck out at least six batters in four of his last six games. Rasmussen lowered his ERA to 2.78 on the year. He’s lined up to face the Angels at home next weekend.

Weathers gave up four hits, walked three and struck out four. The Rays didn’t put up much of a fight against Weathers. The closest Tampa Bay came to scoring was in the third inning when the Rays had back-to-back singles with one out. Weathers then got Junior Caminero to ground into a double play. The Rays didn’t get another runner to second base before Weathers was already out of the game. He lowered his ERA this year to 3.14. Weathers is lined up to face the Athletics on the road next weekend.

Judge’s home run was his 17th of the season. He hit a two-run walk-off home run off Kevin Kelly in the bottom of the ninth inning. Judge had gone 11 games without hitting a home run prior to Sunday. Only Kyle Schwarber has more home runs than Judge so far this year.

The Orioles were facing a one-run deficit and down to their final strike in the ninth inning when Cowser obliterated an 0-2 sinker from Kenley Jansen for his 440-foot (111.5 mph EV) game-winning blast that sent the Orioles’ faithful into a frenzy. He finished the afternoon 1-for-2 and is hitting just .200/.284/.289 with two homers and 12 RBI on the season.

Henderson victimized Tigers’ starter Framber Valdez for a 368-foot (100.8 mph EV) solo shot on a first-pitch curveball in the sixth inning. That got the Orioles on the board and pulled them to within a run at 2-1. Henderson also walked and struck out twice in the ballgame. For the season, the 24-year-old infielder is slashing a disappointing .230/.282/.438 with 11 homers and 25 RBI.

Young struck out four batters on the afternoon while issuing a pair of walks. The damage done against him came in the fourth inning as the Tigers scratched out a pair of runs after Pete Alonso botched a potential double play ground ball. He generated eight whiffs on 105 pitches in the contest, posting a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll try to keep the good times rolling as he brings a 3.47 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and a 26/16 K/BB ratio (36 1/3 innings) into Friday’s tilt against the Blue Jays.
