Rays designated LHP Brandon Eisert for assignment.
It winds up being a short stay for Eisert on Tampa Bay’s 40-man roster as he ends up being jettisoned to make room for Ha-Seong Kim. The 27-year-old lefty was acquired last week from the Blue Jays in a small trade. He made three appearances last year for Toronto at the highest level.

Vaughn Grissom added 20 pounds of muscle during the offseason.
Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow made the revelation to reporters at the outset of spring training. Grissom is coming off an injury-marred Boston debut last year where he played in just 31 contests in the majors, batting .190 (20-for-105) with zero homers and two steals. At 24 years old, it’s too early to give up on him completely, but he’s going to have to show something in Grapefruit League action to have any shot at holding off top prospect Kristian Campell for Boston’s starting second base role.
  • CIN Left Fielder #7
Spencer Steer is still dealing with shoulder soreness.
Not great. Steer battled a lingering shoulder issue down the stretch last year, which led to an abysmal 198/.291/.344 triple-slash line with just five homers over his final 63 contests following the All-Star break. The Cincinnati Enquirer’s Gordon Wittenmyer adds that Steer could be limited to DH-only at the outset of Cactus League contests. It doesn’t sound like he’s in danger of missing any regular season action, but it’s definitely a situation fantasy managers should monitor closely in the coming weeks.
  • LAD Relief Pitcher #59
Evan Phillips (shoulder) will not be ready for Opening Day as he continues to recover from a rotator cuff tear.
It’s starting to make sense why the Dodgers got aggressive this offseason on the relief market — signing both Tanner Scott and Kirby Yates to fill high-leverage roles — with Phillips ticketed for the injured list. The 30-year-old was sidelined during last year’s NLCS due to “arm fatigue,” but wound up being diagnosed with a rotator cuff tear. He received a platelet-rich-plasma (PRP) injection back in November and didn’t even pick up a baseball until last month. There should be some clarity on his potential return timeline in the coming weeks, but fantasy managers should expect him to miss some time at the outset of the regular season.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher #84
Rangers signed RHP JT Chargois to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Chargois, who played his college ball in the Lone Star state at Rice University, heads to Rangers camp as extra organizational relief depth after compiling a strong 2.23 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 30/13 K/BB ratio across 36 1/3 innings (36 appearances) last year between the Marlins and Mariners. The 34-year-old veteran relievers has become a bit more brittle in his 30’s, but he remains an effective middle relief option, when healthy. He’ll compete in the Cactus League for a spot in the Rangers’ season-opening bullpen.
  • LAD Third Baseman #8
    Dodgers re-signed INF/OF Enrique Hernández to a one-year, $6.5 million contract.
The deal is now official to bring Hernández back for the defending World Series champions as a versatile bench option for one of the most loaded rosters in recent memory. The 33-year-old super utility specialist won’t play enough to matter for fantasy purposes, but his defensive versatility, clubhouse vibes and lefty-mashing skillset make him an ideal complementary role player on a playoff contender.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #35
Dodgers placed RHP Gavin Stone on the 60-day injured list.
Stone will miss the entire 2025 season after undergoing shoulder surgery back in October. The track record for pitchers coming back from major shoulder procedures is a bit more checkered than elbow surgeries, which complicates his long-term outlook. The procedural move frees up a spot on Los Angeles’ 40-man roster for utility specialist Kiké Hernández.
  • ARI Relief Pitcher #30
Diamondbacks re-signed RHP Scott McGough to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
McGough returns to the fold with Arizona as extra relief depth just a few months after the club declined his $4 million club option for 2025. The 35-year-old journeyman struggled to a bloated 7.44 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 25/21 K/BB ratio across 32 2/3 innings (26 appearances, two starts) this season for the Diamondbacks. He’ll most likely head to Triple-A Reno as emergency depth at the conclusion of spring training.
  • ARI Relief Pitcher #37
Diamondbacks signed RHP John Curtiss to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Curtiss latches on with Arizona as extra organizational relief depth entering spring training after making three appearances last year for the NL West division-rival Rockies. The 31-year-old journeyman righty has made 94 appearances (five starts) in the majors dating back to 2017. He’ll most likely wind up at Triple-A Reno as emergency depth.
  • SD Right Fielder #22
Padres signed OF Jason Heyward to a one-year, $1 million contract.
The deal, which includes an additional $250,000 in performance-related bonuses, is now official. Heyward heads to San Diego to help shore up their glaring lack of corner outfield depth. He’ll compete with Connor Joe and prospect Tirso Ornelas for at-bats between left field and DH. The 35-year-old veteran’s days as a fantasy-relevant contributor are probably in the rearview mirror, but he represents a legitimate upgrade for the Padres. He bounced around last year between the Dodgers and Astros, batting .211/.288/.412 with 10 homers and five steals across 258 plate appearances over 87 games.
  • FA Center Fielder #18
FanSided’s Robert Murray reports the White Sox are signing Michael A. Taylor.
No word yet on the financial terms. Taylor remains a strong defender in center field, but offers next to nothing at the dish after batting .193/.253/.290 with five homers and 12 steals across 300 plate appearances last year for the Pirates. The 33-year-old can be safely ignored in most fantasy formats, but his presence should help Chicago’s pitching staff by tracking down a few extra fly balls.
