Tigers signed OF Ben Gamel to a minor league contract.
Gamel was released by the Astros Saturday, and he finds a new home shortly after. He’ll likely head to Triple-A Toledo, and a good showing there could give him a chance to help Detroit off the bench this spring.

Jake Irvin will undergo an MRI on his right shoulder after leaving Saturday’s start against Atlanta.
Irvin threw five no-hit innings without allowing a run, but tightness in his shoulder caused the right-hander to exit. The 29-year-old’s status for his next scheduled start and the foreseeable future will largely be determined by the results of the imaging.
'Continue to trust' Bichette after return to form
James Schiano unpacks Bo Bichette finally getting back to form over the last five games, explaining why both the New York Mets and fantasy managers can count on continued improvement from the seasoned veteran,
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #67
The Red Sox plan to activate Danny Coulombe (back) off the injured list before Sunday’s game.
Coulombe has not pitched well in 2026 with a 5.63 ERA, but he’s also been limited to just eight innings because of his late signing and also back spasms that have kept him out since the start of May. He’ll likely be a mid-to-late inning option against left-handed hitters starting Sunday.
  • AZ Left Fielder #12
D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said the hope is that Lourdes Gurriel Jr. will be able to come off the 10-day IL when first eligible.
Good news. Gurriel was placed on the IL today because a hamstring strain. Tommy Troy figures to get most of the starts in left field for now, though he didn’t start tonight because of the late decision to have him travel to join the team.
  • COL Shortstop
Ethan Holliday is being held out of action for Low-A Fresno because of a left foot injury that Rockies GM Josh Byrnes says is being evaluated.
Holliday last played Wednesday. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 MLB draft is hitting .262/.395/.557 with nine homers in 152 plate appearances for Fresno.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #45
Zack Wheeler struck out six over six innings in the Phillies’ 3-0 shutout of the Guardians on Saturday.
Orion Kerkering, Brad Keller and Jhoan Duran finished up the three-hitter. Wheeler allowed two hits and walked one in the 99-pitch outing. Following a leadoff double in the fourth, he retired nine in a row to conclude his day. Wheeler is an incredible 4-0 with a 1.67 ERA and a 36/8 K/BB in 37 2/3 innings since returning from thoracic outlet surgery. He’s due to make his next start Friday against the Dodgers.
  • PHI Relief Pitcher #59
Jhoan Duran pitched a scoreless ninth against the Guardians for a save in a 3-0 game Saturday.
Duran, who took a loss Friday, gave up a leadoff double to Travis Bazzana before retiring the next three batters in a row. He’s a perfect 9-for-9 in his save chances this season. He’ll get Sunday off after this, which could lead to a save chance for Brad Keller or José Alvarado.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #44
Slade Cecconi yielded three runs in five-plus innings Saturday in a loss to the Phillies.
The third run came in the sixth after Cecconi gave up a single to Bryce Harper and a walk to Alec Bohm before being pulled with no outs. Cecconi ended up with five strikeouts tonight. He’s still completed six innings just twice while going 3-5 with a 5.18 ERA in 11 starts. He’ll take on the Red Sox next.
  • PHI 1st Baseman #3
Bryce Harper went 3-for-4 and scored two of the Phillies’ three runs against the Guardians on Saturday.
Trea Turner and Kyle Schwarber combined to go 0-for-8 ahead of him, so Harper didn’t drive in any runs today. He did pick up his fourth stolen base, though. Harper has six three-hit games this year, and he’s currently in the mid-140s in OPS+, which is right where he finished in 2022 (146), 2023 (145) and 2024 (146) before slipping to 129 last year.
  • CLE Center Fielder #10
Daniel Schneemann went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts against the Phillies on Saturday.
Schneemann started playing a lot more than expected after a fast start, but he’s just 8-for-59 with two doubles and a .396 OPS in 17 games this month. Overexposure seems like an issue here; Schneemann’s versatility definitely makes him worth a roster spot, but he strikes out too often to be starting against every right-hander the Guardians face.
  • SF Center Fielder #9
Harrison Bader went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in the Giants’ 10-3 win over the White Sox on Saturday.
Bader broke the game open for the Giants, extending the team’s lead with a grand slam off Jordan Leasure in the fifth inning on a 105.8 mph, 425-foot blast to center field. Three pitches prior to that, he had a popup down the third base line that Miguel Vargas lost in the sun, resulting in a foul ball. The grand slam was his second in the last week and fifth home run of the season while slashing .178/.211/.389 with ten runs scored and 13 RBI across 95 plate appearances.
