Jesús Luzardo delivered a dominant performance in Friday’s victory over the Dodgers, piling up eight strikeouts over seven shutout innings.
Luzardo allowed just two hits and two walks in the contest and was in complete command the entire night. The only time a runner reached third base against him was when Teoscar Hernandez swiped third with two outs in the seventh, and he was left stranded there. Luzardo generated 12 swings and misses in the game — four each on his changeup and slider — while registering a CSW of 29 percent. He has been absolutely brilliant so far this season, compiling a 2-0 record, 1.50 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and a 19/4 K/BB ratio over 12 innings. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling when he takes on the Braves in Atlanta on Thursday.
