Jonathan Cannon struggled in a losing effort against the Mets on Tuesday evening, giving up five runs on nine hits over his 5 2/3 frames.
The 24-year-old hurler punched out four batters on the evening while issuing one base on balls. Most of the damage done against him came in the opening inning as Pete Alonso and Jared Young each clubbed two-run homers. They tacked on an additional run on a sacrifice fly in the third inning. Cannon got nine whiffs on 94 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 24 percent. He’ll bring an underwhelming 4.15 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and a 46/18 K/BB ratio (60 2/3 innings) into Monday’s showdown against the Tigers.
