  • DET Shortstop #28

Javier Báez is not in the starting lineup for the Tigers against the Giants on Wednesday.
This feels like a routine day off for Báez, but it’s worth noting because Wenceel Pérez is starting in center field for the second straight day since coming off the IL. Báez played third on Tuesday, but it seems like he may need to fill a utility role to stay in the lineup, especially with Parker Meadows also nearing a return. Báez could play third base and second base going forward, and also fill in the outfield when they give some of the starters off days.

Pirates recalled INF Liover Peguero from Triple-A Indianapaolis.
Peguero is up to replace Adam Frazier now that Frazier is a member of the Royals. The 24-year-old isn’t guaranteed to get playing time — although in a rebuilding year they may choose to see what Peguero has to offer — and hasn’t had nearly enough success in the minors nor majors to suggest he’s worthy of a fantasy addition.
Arrighetti expected to begin rehab assignment
Houston Astros pitcher Spencer Arrighetti is expected to begin a rehab assignment next week, and James Schiano explains why the 25-year-old starter needs to be stashed on your fantasy rosters.
  • CLE Relief Pitcher #59
Guardians recalled RHP Nic Enright from Triple-A Columbus.
Enright takes the roster spot of Paul Sewald after Sewald was placed on the injured list prior to the All-Star break. Enright will give the Guardians a middle-inning option while he’s with the club.
  • ARI Relief Pitcher #43
Diamondbacks selected the contract of RHP Trevor Richards.
Richards signed a minor league deal with the D-backs in the middle of June after he was booted by the Royals earlier that month. The 32-year-old isn’t expected to be much more than a low-leverage option while he’s with Arizona.
  • LAA Center Fielder #27
Mike Trout told reporters before Friday’s game against the Phillies that he’s hopeful to play in the outfield soon.
Soon is subjective, and becomes even more so because Trout also told reporters there’s no timeline for a potential return to the field. He did do some work in the right field prior to Friday’s game, which is a positive development. The 33-year-old will continue to be in the lineup for the Angels as the designated hitter, and he’s forged a .238/.365/.471 slash with 17 homers and 41 RBi over his 2025 campaign.
  • PIT Shortstop #31
Kevin Gorman of TribLive reports that the Pirates are expected to recall Liover Peguero from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Peguero, 24, would take the roster spot of Adam Frazier after Frazier was dealt to the Royals during the All-Star break. The 24-year-old is a former Top 100 prospect who hasn’t had much success over the last couple of years, but it’s possible Pittsburgh will give him some run with the Pirates nowhere close to playoff contention.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #25
Mets activated RHP Brooks Raley off the 15-day injured list.
Raley returns after missing the first half of the 2025 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery. The 37-year-old has shown the ability to be a very strong high-leverage reliever in the past, but it’s plausible that New York will ease him into that type of role to begin his season. Either way, without saves, Raley doesn’t offer a ton of fantasy upside.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #57
Mets designated LHP Richard Lovelady for assignment.
The man they call “Dickey” will now hit the waiver wire after spending a little under a month with the Mets. The 30-year-old could be claimed by a team interested in some southpaw help, but is just as likely to clear waivers and either report back to Triple-A or hit free agency.
  • TB 2nd Baseman #8
Rays activated INF Brandon Lowe off the 10-day injured list.
Lowe missed just the minimum stint on the injured list after deal with tightness in his left oblique. He’ll return to an everyday role with the Rays against right-handed pitching.
  • TB 3rd Baseman #25
Rays optioned INF Curtis Mead to Triple-A Durham.
Mead is booted from the active roster with Brandon Lowe (oblique) activated off the 10-day injured list. Mead is still just 24 and is a former top prospect, but it’s looking more and more like he doesn’t have a place with the Rays; or at least not one that can provide fantasy value.
  • LAA 3rd Baseman #5
Yoán Moncada is not in the lineup for Friday’s game against the Phillies.
A little bit of a surprise considering Moncada was in the lineup on a consistent basis prior to the All-Star break. Hopefully this is just a day off for the 30-year-old, but for now, Kevin Newman is playing third and hitting ninth.
