He’s clearly going through an adjustment period at the highest level and Kansas City seems committed to letting his play through his early-career struggles.

Yost winds up getting $3.25 million reasons to walk away from a commitment to Florida, which is a near full-slot deal for the 24th overall pick, which carried a $3.76 slot value. The 18-year-old prep shortstop was one of the bigger first-round surprises from the 2025 MLB Draft, but Detroit’s success during the Scott Harris era means this might be a worthwhile gamble. He’s several hyperspace jumps from the big leagues, but he’s a name dynasty managers should be watching as he kicks off his professional career.
