Alexis Díaz retired all four batters he faced for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday and has yet to give up a run in three appearances for the club.
Díaz averaged 95.7 mph with his fastball as a stellar rookie reliever with the Reds in 2022, but that dropped to 94.6 mph in 2023, 94.0 mph in 2024 and 93.0 mph in his six major league appearances this season. The Dodgers, though, seem to have turned things around for him there; he was at 94.6 mph with his 10 fastballs last night, topping out at 95.9 mph. If that extra velocity sticks around, he could be rather helpful out of the big-league pen.
