Mike Yastrzemski went 3-for-3 with a homer, double and two RBI on Thursday as the Braves triumphed over the Marlins in Miami.
Yastrzemski clobbered a 398-foot (102.4 mph EV) solo shot off of Sandy Alcantara in the second inning that increased the Braves’ early advantage to 3-0. He then singled and scored on an RBI knock by Ronald Acuna Jr. in the fifth inning. Yastrzemski also smacked an RBI double in the sixth that made it a 6-2 game. With his three-hit attack, the 35-year-old outfielder is now slashing .234/.305/.365 with three long balls and 14 RBI on the season.

White Sox transferred OF Austin Hays from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
Hays is now technically off the 40-man roster, and that creates room for Braden Montgomery to join the club. Hays was pulled off his rehab assignment at the beginning of the month while recovering from his left calf strain, and won’t be eligible to rejoin Chicago until the early portion of July.

  • CWS Center Fielder #92
White Sox selected the contract of OF Braden Montgomery.
Montgomery will be making his MLB debut Tuesday against the Braves. The 12th pick of the 2023 draft, Montgomery was acquired in the Garret Crochet blockbuster, and the 23-year-old has a chance to be a contributor in several fantasy categories. He’s worth roster consideration for those who need the outfield help.
  • SD 3rd Baseman #7
Padres recalled INF Will Wagner from Triple-A El Paso.
Wagner is up with Xander Bogaerts on the paternity list. Wagner will provide some depth in the infield for the three days Bogaerts is away from the club.
  • SD Shortstop #2
Padres placed INF Xander Bogaerts on the paternity list.
Bogaerts will be away from the Padres for up to three days. The 33-year-old will be replaced on the roster by Will Wagner.
  • STL Center Fielder #11
Cardinals optioned OF Victor Scott II to Triple-A Memphis.
As expected, Scott will head to Triple-A with Nathan Church expected to come off the injured list. The 25-year-old outfielder has hit just 194/.276/.258 in 184 plate appearances. While his speed makes him someone that fantasy managers should track, the lack of offensive upside makes it hard to imagine he’ll ever be a relevant player.
  • HOU Catcher #21
Yainer Diaz (oblique) and Cristian Javier (shoulder) will begin their rehab assignments with Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday.
Diaz has been sidelined since May 4th with an oblique strain, and Javier has been out since April 8th with a shoulder strain. Diaz will likely need to make a handful of starts behind the plate before being activated, but that could come by early next week. Javier will likely need until at least early July before he becomes an option for the Astros’ rotation.

Multiple outlets report that there the White Sox will call up Braden Montgomery before Tuesday’s game against the Braves.
Matt Snyder of CBS Sports was the first to report the promotion, and it’s since been confirmed by every White Sox writer since. Montgomery is the 31st-ranked prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline, and the 23-year-old hit .313/.429/.606 in 27 games at Double-A this season with six home runs and two steals before getting promoted to Triple-A, where he has hit .315/.417/.495 with four home runs, 32 runs scored, 19 RBI, and three steals in 29 games. He’s not on the 40-man roster, so the White Sox will need to make a few roster moves to call him up, but Montgomery could be added over guys like Henry Bolte and Ryan Waldschmidt if he were to be called up.
