NBA DFS Bargains Monday 12/2

It’s a six-game evening in the NBA this Monday, meaning there’s plenty of DFS value to be mined. From guys you almost must target to potential punt plays, we’re here to break down the biggest values. In this column, I’m talking primarily about players with salaries around $6,000 or cheaper. Let’s start with a quick look at Vegas’ expectations for today’s slate.

FanDuel/DraftKings Bargains

Point Guard

Ky Bowman (FD $5,800 - DK $5,100)

The Warriors are playing the second half of a back-to-back set, and they’ll be resting Draymond Green tonight (he’s ‘unlikely’ to play, which means he’s almost certainly out). D’Angelo Russell has also been ruled out for Monday’s game with his finger injury, leaving Bowman in a prime spot to produce against a Hawks defense that ranks 29th in Defensive Rating (they give up 114.7 points per 100 possessions, with only the Wizards allowing more). Bowman’s price dipped a few hundred dollars on both FD and DK prior to Monday’s slate, and it’s worth remembering that prior to Green’s return he dropped 40.7 and 46.1 fantasy points in consecutive games.

Shooting Guard

Donte DiVincenzo (FD $4,600 - DK $4,400)

I’m not eagerly targeting the Bucks/Knicks game due to the obvious blowout potential and uncertainty about who might go off or get benched after 2 ½ quarters. DiVincenzo is one guy I’m not too worried about, though, as Khris Middleton remains on an apparent minute-limit and continues to come off the bench. Plus, a blowout might actually benefit DiVincenzo, a 22-year-old the Bucks might just turn loose in fourth-quarter garbage time. He’s reliably scoring double-digit points with some boards and steals, and anything else is a bonus. I may not use him much in tourneys, but he feels like a safe 5x value for my 50/50, H2H and smaller leagues.

DeAndre’ Bembry (FD $4,200 – DK $4,800)

Cam Reddish (left wrist sprain) might be out again on Monday, as he just had an MRI and the results haven’t even been announced. It seems unlikely the Hawks would take any risks with the rookie. Allen Crabbe started Saturday’s game but he’s now doubtful for tonight due to an illness. That leaves plenty of opporunity for the DeAndre’s – Hunter and Bembry. I’m more intrigued by Bembry, who has been hit-or-miss lately but taken full advantage of his playing time – in the past three games when he played 30+ minutes, he got 46.8, 30.0 and 38.4 fantasy points. I’ll take those odds.

Small Forward

Jae Crowder (FD $5,000 - DK $5,400) and Bruno Caboclo (FD $3,500 – DK $3,000)

Crowder and Caboclo both get a nice boost with Brandon Clarke (hip) and Kyle Anderson (heel) unavailable. They’ll be even tastier if Jonas Valanciunas’ illness forces him to miss a third straight game. Crowder has at least 26. Fantasy points in four of his past six games and he’s coming off a double-double in 33 minutes vs. the Wolves on Sunday. He’s about as safe as it gets in the $5,000 range. Caboclo was totally out of the rotation prior to Sunday, so he’s a bigger risk, but he did pile up 12 points, 13 rebounds, three steals and one assist in 28 minutes vs. Minnesota. With his price in the basement and at least two key teammates injured, I’ll be deploying Caboclo more often than not.

Power Forward

Eric Paschall (FD $5,900 - DK $5,600)

Draymond Green is doubtful for tonight’s game for rest purposes, as mentioned earlier, so Paschall gets a boost with more touches on offense. His price has risen to match his production, so he’s not the glaringly obvious value he was a few weeks ago, but there’s still value here in a great matchup vs. Atlanta. I like Paschall as a cash-game play tonight, though his tournament upside isn’t the highest – he has one steal in his past 10 games combined, and just three blocks in that span. Bring on the defensive stats, Paschall! The expected return of Kevon Looney also doesn’t worry me, since he’ll be on a minute-limit and should just steal a bit from Willie Cauley-Stein and Omari Spellman, rather than Paschall.

Center

Robin Lopez (FD $3,500 - DK $4,400)

DraftKings spiked RoLo’s price by $1,400, which is unfortunate, but FanDuel left him as an obvious value-play on a night without many alternatives. His bro(lo) has already been ruled out with a back injury, and Robin was great on Saturday with 13 points, six boards, four assists and three blocks in 23 minutes – he even made a career-high three 3-pointers. The Knicks aren’t exactly an intimidating matchup, and Lopez’s low playing time this season means he’s unlikely to get benched in the event of a blowout.
