POINT GUARD
Damian Lillard – Portland (vs New York)
Lillard is one of the most expensive point guards of the night, and he’s also one of the best overall plays at the position. “Dame” is averaging a solid 43 FPPG on the season, and there’s a great chance he’ll increase that average in this beautiful home draw vs New York. The Knicks rank 21st in defensive efficiency against opposing point guards, 29th in team d-eff, and 24th in three-point percentage allowed at 36.5%. All of those metrics feed into Lillard’s strengths, and we could witness a huge fantasy performance as a result.
Also Consider: De’Aaron Fox, Mike Conley, Derrick White
SHOOTING GUARD
Bogdan Bogdanovic – Sacramento (vs Orlando)
James Harden is a fantastic shooting guard if you have the salary to make him work. That is pretty obvious when considering his recent run. Looking beyond “the beard” at the position, Bogdan Bogdanovic makes sense as a solid all-around pick on both sites. Bogdanovic has produced 35+ fantasy points in three of his past four games despite two of those coming from subpar shooting performances. He’s racking up enough peripheral stats to create a solid fantasy floor with upside if the shot is falling. This Sacramento-Orlando game represents the highest over/under of the night, and Bogdan could make some noise within that. His $5,300 salary on DraftKings is very enticing.
Also Consider: James Harden, Luka Doncic, Austin Rivers
SMALL FORWARD
Davis Bertans – San Antonio (at Detroit)
Rudy Gay has been ruled out tonight. We aren’t sure who will start in his place, but Davis Bertans will likely become the biggest beneficiary regardless. The last time Gay was out (12/31 vs BOS), Bertans logged 30 minutes off the bench for a plausible 17 point 5 rebound outing (25 FP). He’s instantly a reasonable value filler through all formats on both sites with an expanded role.
Also Consider: Brandon Ingram, Kyle Anderson, Gordon Hayward
POWER FORWARD
Aaron Gordon – Orlando (at Sacramento)
Gordon has been “just okay” as of late, but most of that revolves around blowout situations. Tonight’s matchup at Sacramento is expected to be competitive and high-scoring, so there’s a good chance we’ll get Gordon at his best. The Kings rank second in pace, 23rd vs power forwards, and 27th in rebound rate – so that certainly feeds the rationale as well. Gordon has been able to accumulate 41+ fantasy points in favorable situations two times over his past five games. Tonight’s draw at Sacramento qualifies beyond favorable, and I’m expecting Gordon to surpass that range.
Also Consider: Jayson Tatum, Kyle Kuzma, Al-Farouq Aminu
CENTER
Jusuf Nurkic – Portland (vs New York)
The decision is close between Nurkic and Nikola Vucevic – especially on FanDuel where only $200 separates their respective salaries. However, Nurkic is $1,500 less on DraftKings, which makes it less of a debate over there. Both centers find themselves in great matchups, but it’s really tough to ignore Nurkic and his five 43 FP outings over the past six games. His opponent, New York, has one of the worst defenses in the league – also ranking 24th in defensive efficiency against the center position. Don’t be surprised if Nurkic ends up with another dominant stat-line.
Also Consider: Nikola Vucevic, Rudy Gobert
