  • SAS Power Forward #1
The Spurs have listed Victor Wembanyama at 7-foot-3, 235 pounds on the team’s updated roster.
After being listed at 210 pounds for his rookie season, Wembanyama has added some weight. That’s to be expected, as Wemby won’t turn 21 until January and has a season of NBA experience. With Chris Paul now in the fold, the Spurs big man has the potential to be a dominant force as soon as this season. In fantasy, Wembanyama is on the short list of options for first overall pick in redraft leagues and the unquestioned 1.1 in dynasty formats.
  • HOU Point Guard #5
Fred VanVleet and Steven Adams will sit out on Wednesday against the Thunder.
FVV and Adams will get a rest night, which means we’ll get an extended look at just the young guys in Houston. Amen Thompson will be taking over point guard duties, which will have dynasty managers excited about the future.
  • OKC Shooting Guard #9
The Thunder will start Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Lu Dort, Alex Caruso, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren on Wednesday against the Rockets.
This is OKC’s first game with their full rotation available, and they are rolling with Caruso as the new acquisition that fills Josh Giddey’s spot. This doesn’t mean that they’ll roll out this lineup every game, so managers that are wanting to draft Isaiah Hartenstein shouldn’t freak out yet. However, it is worth keeping an eye on as the preseason continues.
  • NYK Point Guard #2
Miles McBride is “under the weather” and won’t play against the Wizards on Wednesday.
McBride starred in their first preseason game, scoring a team-high 22 points off the bench. However, with him sidelined for this game, Tyler Kolek should get extended minutes behind Jalen Brunson, who will likely only play a small role in this exhibitiion.
  • NYK Center #10
According to Knicks writer Ian Begley, Moses Brown has signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Knicks.
Brown logged less than 10 minutes per game for Portland last season, and he joined the Lakers for the Las Vegas Summer League without landing a deal. He’ll now compete for a roster spot in New York with a front court depth chart that includes Karl-Anthony Towns, Mitchell Robinson and Precious Achiuwa, among others.
  • CHA Point Guard #12
According to Hornets PR, Charlotte has waived Duane Washington Jr. after two preseason appearances with the team.
Washington Jr. has appeared in 79 contests for the Pacers and Suns across his first two NBA seasons. He’ll look for a new home before the 2024-25 campaign tips off on October 22.
  • DAL Shooting Guard #0
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Dante Exum will miss at least three months after undergoing surgery on his right wrist.
Exum logged 19.8 minutes across 55 appearances for the Mavs last season. His early absence should free up additional playing time for Spencer Dinwiddie and potentially Quentin Grimes or Jaden Hardy.
  • BKN Small Forward #0
Dariq Whitehead shot 1-of-4 from the field in Tuesday’s exhibition game against the Clippers, scoring three points with one rebound and one 3-pointer in 11 minutes.
Due to injuries, Whitehead only played a few games for the Nets as a rookie. The 2023 first-round pick is well off the radar in fantasy basketball, but he’s one of the Nets who may have value during the second half of the season. There’s no need to draft Whitehead outside of dynasty leagues, but he is someone to be mindful of after the trade deadline.
  • BKN Small Forward #1
Ziaire Williams played 23 minutes in his unofficial Nets debut on Tuesday, accounting for 10 points (5-of-9 FGs), two rebounds, two assists, three steals, and one block in 23 minutes.
Williams was traded to Brooklyn by the Grizzlies during the offseason. While that means he’s unlikely to play for a contender in 2024-25, there should be more opportunities to show what he can do as a pro. Williams played well in Brooklyn’s preseason opener, attacking the basket consistently and providing solid scoring off the bench. The complete stat line will intrigue fantasy managers, especially if Brooklyn falls out of contention relatively early, as many expect. Williams is not a player who should be drafted, but deep-league managers will want to have him on their watch lists for later in the season.
  • BKN Power Forward #21
Noah Clowney shot 1-of-4 from the field and 1-of-2 from the foul line in Tuesday’s exhibition against the Clippers, accumulating three points, three rebounds, and three assists in 16 minutes.
In Brooklyn’s preseason opener, three was Clowney’s lucky (or unlucky) number. The second-year forward missed all three of his 3-point attempts and was responsible for three turnovers. Add in the points, rebounds, and assists; Tuesday night was difficult for Clowney. With Day’Ron Sharpe (hamstring) out until mid-November at the earliest, the door is wide open for Clowney to claim minutes behind starter Nic Claxton. Even with Tuesday’s performance, the opportunity makes him worth a late-round flier in drafts.
  • BKN Shooting Guard #24
Cam Thomas logged 17 minutes in Tuesday’s game against the Clippers, amassing 12 points (3-of-5 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs), one rebound, two assists, one steal, and two 3-pointers.
Thomas was solid in Brooklyn’s preseason opener, shooting the ball reasonably well while keeping the turnovers (one) to a minimum. Given the track record, fantasy managers know Thomas’ appeal comes in the form of points and 3-pointers. That limits his ceiling in category leagues, but Thomas has the potential to be a stud in points formats. Given Brooklyn’s lack of consistent scorers, he should be the second Net off the board in most fantasy drafts, following Nic Claxton.
