Norman Powell led the Clippers with 30 points (11-of-22 FGs), five rebounds, two assists, one steal and five 3-pointers in a 106-105 loss to Portland on Wednesday.
Powell has been fantastic to start this season, and that continued in this game. He called it “addition by subtraction” when they lost Paul George, because he said he would get a chance to step up. He has done just that, which has played well in fantasy hoops. Most of Powell’s value has come from his efficient scoring and shooting, as he has shot 51.4% from the floor on 18.5 attempts per game, which has led to 26.0 points and 3.8 triples per game. Managers can’t rely on him for much production in other categories, but he should be an excellent scoring option all year.

Joel Embiid is not listed on the injury report ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Knicks.
Embiid’s three-game suspension is over, and now he’s healthy enough to make his season debut. This will be a situation worth monitoring, since he has been managing a left knee injury. His return should push Andre Drummond back to the bench, but we’ll see how many minutes Embiid plays before dropping his fill-in.
  • MIA Small Forward #22
Jimmy Butler (right ankle sprain) will remain sidelined for Tuesday’s game against Detroit.
This will be a second straight absence for Butler, which likely means that Haywood Highsmith will start in his place once again. He provided some decent streaming value, mostly through his five steals. Highsmith should be considered a low-end streaming option.
  • BOS Shooting Guard #44
Jaden Springer (left knee tendinopathy) is questionable for Tuesday’s game against the Hawks.
  • BOS Center #42
Al Horford (left big toe sprain) is listed as questionable for Tuesday’s game against Atlanta.
  • BOS Small Forward #0
Jayson Tatum (left ankle sprain) is listed as questionable for Tuesday’s game against the Hawks.
  • OKC Small Forward #34
Kenrich Williams (knee) is off the injury report ahead of Monday’s matchup with the Clippers.
Kenny Hustle has yet to play in 2024-25 while recovering from knee surgery, but he’s poised to make his season debut Monday. With Chet Holmgren (hip) now out 8-10 weeks and no other options at center, Williams could see substantial minutes right out of the gate.
  • HOU Point Guard #5
Fred VanVleet is out for Monday’s matchup with the Wizards due to left hamstring soreness.
VanVleet will miss his first game of the season, though the severity of his injury is unclear. Houston played Sunday, and VanVleet logged 37 minutes, so this could be a precautionary move on the second leg of a back-to-back set. FVV joins Steven Adams (questionable, knee) and Jock Landale (out, shoulder) on the injury report. Amen Thompson and Reed Sheppard will be the likely beneficiaries of VanVleet’s absence.
  • WAS Power Forward #33
Kyle Kuzma (right groin) is off the injury report ahead of Monday’s matchup with the Rockets, while Bub Carrington (right knee) and Richaun Holmes (illness) are questionable.
Kuz will return from an extended absence and likely reclaim his starting job from Kyshawn George. Carrington’s late addition to the injury report means he should be a GTD for this one, and Holmes’ availability won’t have much of an impact in the world of fantasy hoops.
  • NOP Small Forward #25
Trey Murphy III (right hamstring strain) will make his season debut against the Nets on Monday.
Murphy III may face a minutes restriction in his first game back, but with mounting injuries in New Orleans, the Pelicans may not be able to afford the luxury of easing him back into action. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to his playing time and usage against Brooklyn.
  • SAC Shooting Guard #0
Malik Monk (right ankle injury) will not play Monday against the Spurs, according to NBA reporter Chris B. Haynes.
Monk picked up the injury early in Sunday’s win over the Suns, and he logged only seven minutes. Keon Ellis played 28 minutes off the bench, and he should be the biggest beneficiary of Monk’s absence.
