TOP PICKS

Justin Herbert - QB - LA Chargers (DK: $11,200 / FD: $15,500 / Yahoo: $33)

Herbert has the highest fantasy projection on this slate, so it’s pretty obvious that he’s in consideration as a top pick. The second-year QB is fresh off a brilliant 31 fantasy point showing against the Chiefs, and he’ll look to keep that momentum in this primetime matchup. The Raiders haven’t faced a true, accurate passing QB like Herbert this season. Las Vegas allowed moderate success to Lamar Jackson, Ben Roethlisberger, and Jacoby Brissett through the air, and Herbert presents a much tougher challenge than that group.

Derek Carr - QB - Las Vegas (DK: $10,800 / FD: $16,000 / Yahoo: $28)

Both teams rely on their passing game to move the ball. That could create a high-scoring, back-and-forth affair. Carr has excelled to begin the season, averaging 401 passing yards per game and 24 FPPG. Some of that has been boosted by overtime, but it’s still impressive. The Chargers are respectable against the pass, but Carr should find fantasy value due to the sheer volume of 40-50 passing attempts. Go ahead and look towards stacking both QBs against each other while filling out the rest of your lineup with value receivers.

BEST BARGAINS

Hunter Renfrow - WR - Las Vegas (DK: $5,800 / FD: $9,500 / Yahoo: $14)

Renfrow’s DFS ceiling seems capped around 16 fantasy points. Still, he’s a reliable target who is averaging nearly eight targets, five catches, and 68 yards per contest. That brings forth respectable value given his modest salary across all DFS sites. Add it all up, and Renfrow makes for a decent filler in cash games as well as some tournament looks.

Daniel Carlson - K - Las Vegas (DK: $3,800 / FD: $9,500 / Yahoo: N/A)

This is another cash game bargain to consider, especially for only $3,800 on DraftKings. Las Vegas doesn’t have the best rushing attack, which tends to stall drives in the red zone. Carlson has picked up the pieces with a 14 FPPG average on the season. If we compare that to similarly-priced players on DK (J.Cook, J.Guyton, Z.Jones), it looks pretty good.

TOURNAMENT LOOKS

Henry Ruggs III - Las Vegas (DK: $6,400 / FD: $11,000 / Yahoo: $13)

Ruggs is the epitome of a tournament hopeful. He’s a big-play guy who could rip off a 60+ yard touchdown at any moment. His price is starting to ascend due to two straight 75+ yard outings. That could make him a less popular option on this slate, but the upside is certainly tangible. You can even consider him in cash games for only $13 on Yahoo.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

Austin Ekeler (RB - LAC) is a swerve away from Herbert/Carr. You could stack all three in the same lineup on Yahoo, but it would be a stretch to make that happen on DK or FD. Ekeler’s passing usage has come back into play, and he’s a solid bet for 100+ total yards in this draw.

Darren Waller (WR - LV) has been quiet in back-to-back games. The Steelers and Dolphins did their best to take Waller out of the game by focusing on him in pass coverage. That resulted in an average of five catches and 60 yards with no touchdowns over the last two. So, will Waller bounce back in this matchup? Let’s just say it’s possible, as Waller posted 14-172-2 on 22 targets across two games against the Chargers last season.

Keenan Allen (WR - LAC) could be underrated tonight. Mike Williams has been outproducing him in terms of fantasy points, which will have people flocking towards the latter. Allen is still an All-Pro receiver with breakout potential in the fantasy department. He’s a sneaky-good captain with tournament appeal … Mike Williams (WR - LAC) has been a beast to start the season. He’s worth considering in cash games, but the marked-up salary and popularity have me pivoting elsewhere in tournaments and hoping for the best.

Josh Jacobs (RB - LV) is questionable tonight. If he’s out, then Peyton Barber (RB - LV) and Kenyan Drake (RB - LV) will see more usage. Barber had a breakout 23-111-1 showing last week while also catching three passes for 31 yards against the Dolphins last week. The Chargers present a tougher task, but there’s definitely appeal in Barber’s workload if Jacob’s can’t go.

Jared Cook (TE - LAC) and Foster Moreau (TE - LV) are a couple of tournament fillers who you are hoping can come down with a score. Moreau is the “other” tight end for Las Vegas, but he sees a hearty snap share while drawing two or three targets per game. Maybe he can sneak into the end-zone for his second TD grab of the year.
