Week 11 Rankings

Updated 11/20 at 12:00 PM ET. Moved Ben Roethlisberger down over wind concerns. Ticked Eli Manning and Kirk Cousins down (wind). Ticked Isaiah Crowell up. Moved Terrelle Pryor down. Moved Chris Boswell and Connor Barth down.

There’s no assembly required for LeGarrette Blount’s Week 11 rank. The league leader in touchdowns (12), Blount gets a 49ers run defense allowing an incomprehensible 180 weekly yards. Only the Chargers (14), have allowed more rushing scores than San Francisco (13). With Rob Gronkowski (lung) expected to be sidelined, Blount will be the Patriots’ most obvious means of finishing drives. Fantasy is complicated, with expected results often not panning out, but Blount’s Week 11 process couldn’t be any simpler. Start the touchdown scorer against the touchdown allower.

QB Notes: Now the QB7 by average points, Marcus Mariota is the QB3 by total points over the past five weeks. He’d likely be the QB1 had the Titans not buried the Jags and Packers so early. Mariota has 19 total touchdowns over his past six starts. His fewest fantasy points during his incredible run is 21.0. Allowing the fourth most fantasy points to rival signal callers, the Colts won’t be able to slow football’s hottest player. … As usual, Ben Roethlisberger knocked off his injury rust extraordinarily quickly. One week after returning from knee surgery, Big Ben gutted the Cowboys for 408 yards and three touchdowns while completing 37-of-45 passes (80.4 percent). Stunningly, the effort came in a loss. Roethlisberger will get his revenge against a Browns defense that’s silver plattered a league-worst 25 passing scores. … For the first time since Week 2, Andrew Luck will have his offensive line healthy. The QB6 by average points, it’s no secret Luck has had his ups and downs this season. One of the ups came in Week 8, where he dropped 353 yards and three scores on the Titans. He’ll be ready to reprise that effort at home.

Why is Tom Brady so “low”? Making a cross country trip, he’ll be missing Rob Gronkowski against a defense that hemorrhages yards and points on the ground. Even without Gronk, Brady will get his, but his touchdown ceiling is eroded by the fact that LeGarrette Blount’s over/under for scores is two. … Drew Brees’ typical home/away splits are not a figment of your imagination, though they have been less pronounced in 2016. Brees has eight touchdowns over his past three road starts, averaging 345 yards over his past two. The Panthers’ pass rush has come alive in recent weeks, but they’re still going to have an extremely tough time stopping Brees on a short week. … Aaron Rodgers saved his Week 10 fantasy day with three quarters of garbage time against the Titans. Once again headed on the road for Week 11, he might not be so lucky against a Redskins defense that’s allowed just 10 passing touchdowns. The Redskins are permitting a mere 250 weekly yards. Rodgers keeps finding ways to have two-score days, but his ceiling is liable to cave in any given Sunday.

Just the QB15 by average points over the past five weeks, Cam Newton enters a golden short-week matchup with the Saints the owner of 14 total 2016 touchdowns, only three of which have come in his past three starts. The Saints are too juicy of an opponent to ignore, but Newton’s manifest Week 11 destiny is not a top-three finish. … Russell Wilson has come to life, totaling 59.1 fantasy points over his past two starts. Slowly springing leaks, the Eagles are not a forbidding home matchup for a heating-up Wilson. … Kirk Cousins has re-established a multi-score weekly floor, and is up to fourth in the league in yards (2,716). … The QB9 by average points over the past five weeks, Tyrod Taylor comes off Buffalo’s bye to face a Bengals defense quietly allowing the fifth most quarterback fantasy points. The Bengals have surrendered the seventh most quarterback rushing yards (145). Much more consistent than he was a year ago, Taylor offers a tantalizing floor/ceiling combo. … Matthew Stafford is averaging a modest 231 yards over his past six starts after averaging 328 in Weeks 1-3. The Jags bend against the pass, but rarely break. Stafford is floor, not ceiling, play.

Dak Prescott nailed down the Cowboys’ starting job with last week’s shootout win over the Steelers, but should be in for a much more subdued affair against the Ravens. Prescott has established a wonderful floor, one which he’ll have to rely on for his Week 11 production. … Seven of Eli Manning’s 15 touchdowns have come in his past two starts, but he wasn’t exactly great in the process. Manning also tossed four interceptions, averaging 249 yards and 6.21 yards per attempt. Those are his over/unders against the Bears. … Dealing with league-worst quarterback play, the Texans are staying afloat by making opposing signal callers as bad as Brock Osweiler. Only the Broncos are allowing fewer aerial fantasy points. Derek Carr will have a low ceiling in Mexico City. … Carson Palmer has 1,081 yards over his past three starts, but just four scores to show for it. Nevertheless, that’s volume worth betting on in the mid-QB2 range, even against the Vikings’ regressing but still tough defense. … Andy Dalton has thrown for more than one touchdown just twice in nine starts. He’s been good for QB17 status by average points, but that figures to be the outer limits of his Week 11 production against the Bills’ solid defense.

Thanks to Week 8 garbage time and Week 9 and 10 slugfests, Blake Bortles has eight touchdowns over his past three starts. His mechanics remain a disaster, but so does a Lions defense allowing the third most quarterback fantasy points. Bortles is a weekly threat to bottom out, it’s just not the most likely outcome in Detroit. … Jameis Winston has 10 touchdowns over his past four starts. He’s propped up what had previously been a perilously-low floor. … Averaging 28.1 points over his past two starts, Colin Kaepernick is proving more useful in fantasy than real life. The 49ers are a weekly threat to go off the rails, especially against well-coached teams like the Patriots, but the Pats have been leaky enough in recent weeks that Kap is worth another QB2 roll of the dice. … Matchups don’t matter for Alex Smith, who has nine touchdowns in eight starts. … Joe Flacco has been just as useless as Smith in fantasy, totaling 11 touchdowns in nine games, three of which came against the Browns on a short week. … Even with Brian Hoyer on injured reserve, Jay Cutler is a weekly threat to get benched. … There’s a reason Jared Goff hasn’t started yet. Streamers beware.

RB Notes: LeGarrette Blount is the no-brainer running back rank of the week, but Le’Veon Bell isn’t far behind. Finally off the scoring schneid, Bell will be an excellent bet to find pay dirt against the Browns’ No. 31 run defense. The Browns would be allowing 15 more weekly rushing yards than any other team if not for the 49ers. … The Ravens have the league’s No. 1 run defense by average yards allowed, but no one has stopped Ezekiel Elliott this season. We’ll believe it when we see it. … No. 3 in yards from scrimmage (1,189), DeMarco Murray is No. 2 in rushing (930) and No. 11 in running back receiving (259). No one has stopped him, including the Colts, who coughed up 127 total yards to Murray four weeks ago. Murray will stay cookin’ against a defense allowing the sixth most running back fantasy points. … Is David Johnson hitting a bit of a wall? Given ridiculous workloads all year long, Johnson is averaging just 64 yards rushing and 3.10 yards per carry over his past three games. His receiving production remains through the roof, but Johnson could have trouble kicking his “slump” against a Vikings defense allowing the ninth fewest fantasy points to enemy runners.

LeSean McCoy handled 25 touches in Week 9, avoiding setbacks with his troublesome hamstring. Fully rested coming off the Bills’ bye, he’ll be ready to eat against the Bengals’ sub-par Run D. … Flukily vultured for two scores by Damien Williams, Jay Ajayi had a “down” Week 10. The centerpiece of the Dolphins’ offense is averaging 26 touches in four games as starter, and has produced in all manner of matchups. Jeff Fisher might slow Ajayi for two quarters, but not four. … With Jeremy Maclin (groin) likely to miss another game, the Chiefs will keep leaning on Spencer Ware and their ground game. Ware has established himself as one of the position’s top dual threats. … Lamar Miller’s only concern is Brock Osweiler. Miller has a tasty Week 11 matchup in a Raiders defense surrendering 4.69 yards per carry. … Active for the first time in eight weeks, Doug Martin handled 17 touches in his return. Most importantly, he kept his hamstring healthy. The Bucs desperately want to run more. Martin’s over/under for touches is 20, with room to grow going forward.

With a seemingly not ready Jared Goff making his NFL debut, the Rams will lean on Todd Gurley more than ever. Gurley received his third most carries of the year in Week 10 (21). The Dolphins’ run defense is improving, but remains the league’s No. 30 unit by weekly yards allowed (129). … Jordan Howard isn’t injured, so there will be no committee in the Bears’ backfield. We think… Howard has 41 carries for 253 yards (6.17 YPC) over his past two games. … When last we left Latavius Murray, he was going 20/114/3 against the Broncos. Awesome, but it’s worth noting Jalen Richard, DeAndre Washington and Jamize Olawale combined for 19 carries that Sunday. The Raiders went extremely run heavy, leading to Murray’s big day. Perhaps they will again against the Texans, but Murray is just as likely to go 11/50/0 as he is 20/100/2. … Rob Kelley has 43 carries over his past two games, putting a stranglehold on feature back duties in Washington. No longer an imposing run defense, the Packers could be getting Clay Matthews back, but will be missing run-stopping ILB Jake Ryan.

Thomas Rawls will be back this week. That much we know. It’s his workload that’s up in the air. Coach Pete Carroll went to great pains Wednesday to stress he won’t “overplay” his returning runner. Rawls is the reason Christine Michael was released, but C.J. Prosise’s strong Week 10 probably wasn’t far behind. Dual-threat Prosise should easily win the touch war against the Eagles, making him this week’s play. It will be a week-to-week situation going forward. … Lions lead runner Theo Riddick is still more receiver than running back. Dwayne Washington or Zach Zenner figure to be the primary goal-line back against Jacksonville. It’s alo worth noting the Jaguars have allowed the second fewest running back receiving yards (225). Riddick’s touch advantage is worth a lot more in PPR than standard. … Jeremy Hill has out-carried Giovani Bernard 35-18 over the past two weeks, and out-gained him 119-102. If you insist on playing a Bengals back, Hill has a clear edge. … The Giants’ Week 10 closer, Rashad Jennings is coming off his best game of the season. For Week 11 he gets a Bears defense that just lost critical run stopper Will Sutton.

If the Packers are going to have a running game, they made it clear last week that James Starks will be leading it. New addition Christine Michael probably won’t be ready for a Week 11 role. The Ty Montgomery dream seems dead after he was on the field deep into garbage time against Tennessee. … Carlos Hyde’s carries over/under will be 15 against New England, though it could be a “DuJuan Harris game” for the 49ers. The Pats have coughed up the third most running back receptions (60), and sixth most receiving yardage (497). Jamie Collins’ loss could make those numbers even worse. … Mark Ingram should have a touch advantage on Tim Hightower, but more reliable — in coach Sean Payton’s eyes — Hightower probably has a goal-line advantage, further evening what was a near-even committee in Week 10. … Ryan Mathews has apparently regained the upper hand in Philadelphia’s backfield, but none of Mathews, Darren Sproles or Wendell Smallwood will have a hot hand against the Seahawks’ elite run defense. … Chris Ivory and T.J. Yeldon’s timeshare remains as pointless as ever. … Paul Perkins and Kenneth Dixon have yet to establish upside to match their downside.

WR Notes: A.J. Green is on pace for 1,714 receiving yards, which would be a new career high by 288. … The Bears and Chiefs have allowed nearly identical lines to rival receivers. Odell Beckham and Mike Evans are a Week 11 coin flip. … T.Y. Hilton decked the Titans for 7/133/1 four weeks ago. It was his best road performance in two years. Averaging 111 yards at home, Hilton is in a prime spot. … Jordy Nelson has drawn 40 targets over his past three games, turning them into 24/314/3. Spending more time in the slot the past three weeks, Nelson will avoid blanket coverage from Josh Norman or Bashaud Breeland. … The Texans have a tough pass defense, but Brock Osweiler’s ineptitude should help keep the Raiders’ offense on the field, generating volume for both Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree. … The Jaguars are willing Allen Robinson’s WR1 case back into existence, targeting him a bonkers 40 times over the past three weeks. Coming off his first 100-yard game of the season, and having scored in back-to-back weeks, A-Rob has an ace matchup in the Lions’ soft pass defense.

Kelvin Benjamin has cleared 70 yards in five straight games, though he’s somehow managed zero touchdowns in the process. The Saints, who are allowing the most passing yards in football, will try to help out in the scoring department. New Orleans could be without No. 1 CB Delvin Breaux. … Larry Fitzgerald is nursing a knee injury, but the Cardinals have made it clear he won’t be missing this week’s homecoming to Minnesota. Coming off season highs in catches (12), yards (132) and targets (18), Fitz will be facing a Vikings defense dealing with a number of injuries in its cornerback corps. … Julian Edelman posted a season-high 99 yards in Week 10, and will have a real shot at bettering it against the 49ers. That’s because Rob Gronkowski (lung) seems likely to sidelined, drastically upping Edelman’s already high target floor. … Good news: Doug Baldwin scored three touchdowns in Week 10. Bad news: He’s averaging just 59 yards over his past six games. With Russell Wilson finally on track, there’s reason to believe Baldwin is about to get cooking, but this ranking is probably already overly aggressive.

Might Stefon Diggs see some Patrick Peterson action? Cardinals coach Bruce Arians claimed so on Wednesday. That’s despite the fact that Peterson has played only 36 snaps in the slot. From this view, shadow coverage still seems unlikely. … Donte Moncrief has scored in 3-of-4 games. It’s hard to say who missed Moncrief more during his absence, the Colts or fantasy owners. … With 43 targets over his past four games, Golden Tate has blown by Marvin Jones as the Lions’ No. 1 receiver. There’s no real reason to expect a new course coming off the Lions’ bye. … Brock Osweiler is averaging 139 yards over his past three starts. It doesn’t matter how many targets DeAndre Hopkins is getting if his quarterback can’t throw the ball more than 3-4 yards down the field. … Brandin Cooks continues to hold a yardage edge on rookie teammate Michael Thomas, while Thomas has a slight catch advantage. Cooks has six touchdowns on 67 targets, Thomas five on 69. Both have the same great matchup in the Panthers. They share a WR2 commonality.

Davante Adams could be moving by Randall Cobb on the depth chart. Adams has two 100-yard efforts in his past four games, while Cobb has only one all year. Despite his limited foot speed, Adams is averaging nearly three more yards per catch than Cobb, and doubling him up 6-3 in the touchdown department. There have been plenty of momentum swings in the Packers’ receiver corps, but there’s no question who has it right now. … Jordan Matthews has at least 10 targets in each of his past three games. Spending 73.7 percent of his time in the slot, Matthews should be fine against a Seahawks defense that coughed up 7/99 to Julian Edelman last Sunday. … Rishard Matthews has six touchdowns over his past six games. Of course, he’s averaged a mediocre 51 yards in the process. … Jarvis Landry has 21 catches for 255 yards in four games since Jay Ajayi commandeered the Dolphins’ offense. His PPR skill-set no longer seems turbo changed for standard leagues. … Kenny Britt is coming off his second 100-yard game of the season, but the Rams’ entire skill corps is in wait-and-see mode with Jared Goff making his NFL debut.

Steve Smith Sr. is a WR3 whose biggest impact is limiting Mike Wallace to WR3 status. … Jamison Crowder will be knocked down a few pegs if DeSean Jackson (shoulder) returns. The same is true for compiler Pierre Garcon. … The Chiefs manufactured touches for Tyreek Hill in Jeremy Maclin’s Week 10 absence. Expect more of the same if Maclin misses another game, as is looking likely. … The Dolphins made a point of getting DeVante Parker more involved against the Chargers. It could be just a one-game blip, but Parker will be key if coach Adam Gase wants to take his offense next level. … Robert Woods had the game of his life before the Bills’ Week 10 bye. For now, we’ll consider it a one-off. … Even with Alshon Jeffery suspended, Cameron Meredith and Eddie Royal are low-upside dart throws ideally limited to PPR. … As the world turns behind Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd seems to have the Week 11 leg up. … Tavon Austin’s stats (39/335/2) would be amazing if they came during his Big 12 running back experiment. As a “No. 1” NFL receiver? It’s hard to be worse. That’s before you even take into account Austin’s league-leading seven drops. Pathetic.

TE Notes: With Rob Gronkowski (lung) sidelined, the No. 1 spot is up for grabs. We’ll give it to Greg Olsen, who despite a recent cold streak remains the TE2 overall. Olsen has caught fewer than five passes once in nine games. … Nipping at Olsen’s heels is Delanie Walker, who is coming off a near-career day against the sinking Packers. Only Gronk has more fantasy points over the past five weeks (in four games, naturally). Walker’s floor is nearly as high as Olsen’s, and the Colts (fourth most tight end points allowed) are a mouthwatering matchup. … Fresh off getting immolated by Walker, the Packers must contend with Jordan Reed. Reed had his worst game of the year in Week 10, but should have little trouble getting going against a Pack defense allowing the sixth most tight end fantasy points. … With 198 yards over his past two games, Tyler Eifert has left his ankle injury in the dust. The Bills are a perfectly middling matchup.

The 49ers defend tight ends better than other positions, but still won’t be able to stop Martellus Bennett, who has been an elite TE1 whenever Gronk was absent or limited this season. After LeGarrette Blount, he’s the second most likely Patriot to score a touchdown. … Travis Kelce’s season-ending numbers always end up in the right spot, but he’s highly inconsistent on a week-to-week basis. Especially with Jeremy Maclin (groin) seeming likely to remain sidelined, the Bucs provide one of Kelce’s “boom” opportunities. … Jimmy Graham continues to physically manhandle his opponents, but has been held below 60 yards in 3-of-4 games. Having allowed just 26 tight end receptions all season, the Eagles are not a plus matchup. … With Alshon Jeffery serving a ‘roid ban, Zach Miller is Jay Cutler’s No. 1 receiver. The Giants (52/585 in nine games) have been leaving the gate open for seam stretchers. … Continuing to come into his own, Eric Ebron is emerging as the Lions’ second most targeted player after Golden Tate.

Between the four of them, Zach Ertz, Kyle Rudolph, Jason Witten and Cameron Brate are facing four of the league’s six best tight end defenses. Seattle, Arizona, Baltimore and Kansas City, respectively. That leaves the door open for C.J. Fiedorowicz to spend another week in the top 10. The Raiders have struggled with tight ends for Jack Del Rio’s entire time on the job, and are permitting the eighth most fantasy points this season. … Ertz gets the nod over his three amigos because the Seahawks have allowed a pretty decent amount more TE yardage than AZ, BAL or KC. … It’s another dream matchup for Coby Fleener, but his upside/downside alignment remains too out of whack. … Julius Thomas is in the process of falling off the radar, but coming off a 10-target game, he gets a reprieve against a Lions defense allowing a weekly touchdown to seam stretchers. … Dennis Pitta has zero upside, but is averaging five catches through nine games. … The Browns are a dream matchup for Ladarius Green, making him worth a dart throw in his second week back.
