C.J. Stroud completed 26-of-36 passes for 304 yards and two touchdowns in the Texans’ 24-21, Week 12 loss to the Jaguars, adding six carries for 47 yards and a score.
It was another whirlwind game for the league’s best rookie, who continually extended plays with his legs but also took some unfortunate sacks on the Texans’ would-be game-winning drive. Locked onto Tank Dell in the first half, Stroud got cooking with Nico Collins in the second, finding his No. 1 for 7/104/1 in total. Dell contributed 5/50/1, with all of that production coming before the break. Stroud’s rushing score was a one-yarder where he was able to literally high-step into the end zone after perfectly executing a play-fake. The miscues — Stroud missed Dell for what should have been a 76-yard touchdown in the first quarter, for instance — were few and far between, but they were just enough to make the difference in a contest that came down to a missed 58-yard field goal. Putting “wow” plays on film every week while stuffing the stat sheet, Stroud has a tough Week 13 test in the Broncos.
