  • CIN Wide Receiver #1
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said, “My sense is the Bengals have intensified efforts in recent days to place Ja’Marr Chase among the NFL’s highest-paid receivers on an extension.”
Speaking on Sports Center, Fowler said the Bengals are hopeful they can get Chase under contract and on the practice field early this week. Chase remains the last big-name wide receiver to sign an extension after CeeDee Lamb and Brandon Aiyuk signed extensions with their respective teams last week. Chase has practiced once since the team opened training camp in July but hasn’t taken a practice snap since. If he does sign a new deal and play in Week 1, it’s possible the Bengals will limit his snaps out of caution before giving him a full complement of snaps in the coming weeks.
  • IND Wide Receiver #1
Colts WR Josh Downs (ankle) was a full participant in Thursday’s practice.
This is Downs’ second consecutive FP this week. Barring a setback, the dynamic slot receiver should be on-field for the Colts’ Week 3 game against the Bears on Sunday. Downs can be trusted as a flex-worthy starter, though Bears slot CB Kyler Gordon is no pushover.
  • IND Kicker #7
Matt Gay (quad) was a full participant for Thursday’s practice.
Gay is still battling a quad issue, but he was able to play in Week 2 and the full session Thursday suggests he’ll handle kicking duties against the Bears in Week 3.
  • ATL Running Back #25
Tyler Allgeier (hip) was a full participant during Thursday’s practice.
Allgeier was limited Wednesday with his hip issue, but the full practice session Thursday is a good sign that he’ll be ready to go Sunday against the Chiefs in Week 3. If healthy, Allgeier is likely looking at around 10 touches — the same amount he had in Week 2 — against Kansas City.
  • TEN Running Back #2
Tyjae Spears (ankle) was spotted at the open portion of practice Thursday.
Spears missed Wednesday’s practice with his ankle injury, but the second-year tailback told reporters he was going to play in Week 3 against the Packers on Sunday, and getting back on the field Thursday is a step towards that. Spears will continue to see touches in the Tennessee backfield, but he appears behind Tony Pollard in terms of fantasy significance at this stage.
  • PIT Wide Receiver #10
Roman Wilson (ankle) was listed as a full participant for Thursday’s practice.
Wilson was able to get in a full session after being limited Wednesday. The rookie wideout was also a full participant in last week’s Thursday practice, however, and he didn’t see the field. It still seems likely that Wilson is going to be available for Week 3, but there’s no guarantee of a significant role for that contest.
  • MIN Wide Receiver #18
Vikings WR Justin Jefferson (quad) was seen practicing on Thursday.
Jefferson was a limited participant in Wednesday’s walkthrough as well. Both developments bode positively for his Week 3 availability against the Texans. His official practice designation has yet to be released but fantasy managers should be encouraged by another LP. Ideally, Jefferson will fully participate tomorrow but even a setback-free day with limited participation would give him decent odds of suiting up.
  • MIN Wide Receiver #3
Jordan Addison (ankle) is not participating in practice Thursday.
That will make back-to-back weeks that Addison isn’t able to practice. Instead the 22-year-old will work on the rehab field as he recovers from the ankle injury that limited him in Week 1 and saw him miss Week 2. Jalen Nailor will be the second wideout — assuming Justin Jefferson (quad) plays, of course — if Addison misses Week 3, and it appears likely that will be the case.
  • GB Quarterback #10
Jordan Love (knee) was listed as a limited participant for Thursday’s practice.
Love was able to get in a limited session while wearing pads. When asked about Love’s status for Week 3, Packers HC Matt LaFleur told reporters that they would give Love “up until kickoff, 90 minutes.” In other words, Love is going to be a gametime decision. Malik Willis will get the start behind center against the Titans if the team decides to go cautious with Love
  • NO Tight End #7
Taysom Hill (chest) returned to practice Thursday.
Hill missed Wednesday’s practice with a chest injury he suffered during Week 2 against the Cowboys, but the fact he was able to return to a session Thursday suggests there’s a good chance the hybrid player will be back on the field for Week 3 against the Eagles.
  • PIT Quarterback #3
Russell Wilson (calf) told reporters Thursday that he is “gaining ground” ahead of Week 3 against the Chargers.
“I’m definitely gaining ground,” Wilson said. “I feel good.” He also noted that he was able to do more in practice than before as he tries to comeback from the calf injury that has sidelined him for the first two weeks. Wilson still seems unlikely to play Sunday, and it’s possible Justin Fields would get the nod even if Wilson was healthy.
