James Cook rushed 11 times for 78 yards and two touchdowns in the Bills’ Week 2 win over the Dolphins, adding a 17-yard touchdown reception.
The first three-touchdown effort of Cook’s career puts him 50 percent of the way to his 2023 scoring total, and 33 percent of the way to his previous career touchdown total. Although he cashed in a one-yard goal-line carry in the second quarter, he had big plays to thank, housing a first quarter 4th-and-3 reception for a 17-yard leakout TD and turning a late second quarter handoff into a 49-yard score. The Bills’ OL opened up a huge gap on the 49-yarder and Cook used his speed to leave the Dolphins in the dust. Awesome stuff, especially after Cook handled 22 touches in Week 1. Although Ray Davis and Ty Johnson are both getting snaps, it appears Cook has earned a new level of trust from the Bills’ coaching staff in Year 3. He’ll be in the RB1 mix for Week 3 against the Jaguars.
